What's Your Reaction?

Appearing on The Ed Show Wednesday night, outspoken Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson slammed both Fox News and the GOP, saying that "Fox News and their Republican collaborators are the enemy of America."

When it comes to health care, education, even peace, Grayson insisted that the GOP and Fox News are on the wrong side of the issues. They are the enemies of "anything good for this country," he said.

Grayson also seemed to agree with the White House's recent effort to publicly confront the news network. "What you do with a bully is you confront the bully and the bully backs down," Grayson told Ed Schultz. 99 percent of all Americans, he added, "have the good sense to ignore them."

I wish there was one or two like Grayson on the Senate side, unafraid of saying exactly what he feels.
Too bad in most states that kind of honesty kills political careers.

As far as the POTUS calling out Fox, c'mon, unless Fox is your only source of information, you know they are nothing more than the mouthpiece of the far-right.

This is all a game. Fox "news" is just controlled opposition to divide us between "liberal' and "conservative" The liberals watch MSNBC, CNN, and read the NYT. The conservatives watch Fox 'news" and drool on themselves. The mainstream media is all part of the same propaganda machine.

Its all about divide and conquer. "thesis + antithesis = synthesis" Don't fall for this silly trick. McCain would have done most of the same things Obama is doing just like Obama is doing most of what Bush did. Or Kerry or Gore would have done most of the same things that Bush did. A puppet is a puppet. The puppeteer is what matters.

Rupert Murdoch hates America and is doing all he can to bring it down. What's the real reason he is using his empire to bully our elected officials? Rupert has said over and over that he's in the news business for the money.

Thank you Rep. Grayson for your honesty and clarity!

I'm for you all the way.

The GOP has allowed itself to be joined at the hip with the Fox conglomerate, and now they are paying the price for that decision.

While Fox can continue to make a fortune inflaming right-wing emotions, the GOP cannot return to relevance unless they are able to exist independently of the Fox rabble rousers. Without the minority of American voters who faithfully get their opinions from Fox, the GOP is powerless. Dependent on the minority of voters who get their opinions from Fox, the GOP cannot appeal to mainstream American voters.

It will be interesting to see how this dynamic plays out.

And like any "enemy" they - Fox News - must be dealt with by every legal means at our disposal.

Reply    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:28 PM on 10/25/2009

Geez, scary comments. Legal means to get rid of an organization that criticizes Dear Leader. What you want is the same thing that Hugo Chavez is doing in South America, silencing his media critics by closing them down.

I must then assume that your okay with Hugo Chavez tactics and wish the same to happen here in America? Socialism is slowing rearing it's ugly head in America then.

So what happens when the Republicans take back the WH, etc, everything is cyclical in politics and it will happen. Would you be okay with them shutting down HuffPost, MSNBC, CNN? Would that be okay with you?

Those in the business of reporting the new are ethically responsible for the validity of what they report.
If what they have to say is not the TRUTH; then they have no need for the various credentials issued to them by the Government.

When you have been proven to be a flagrant repeat offender of deliberately delivering false and misleading information to the news audience; the credentials you were issued, you no longer deserve!

Among all the credentials a Journalist is proud to carry, is the Badge issued by the Secret Service allowing you access to events and appearances of The President.
Those who demonstrate that they will report information about the Government and the President that is other than the TRUTH, should have their Secret Service Credentials permanently REVOKED and not be allowed to attend events requiring the Credential!

I feel the same way that you do, but your solution is anti-first amendment and would create huge "censorship" issues for Obama and a huge backlash. They would be sued and they'd lose in some nasty supreme court battle. Bush lost several cases by being oblivious to Constitutional constraints on executive power.

The best they can do is continue to get in their face and call them out.

a non-government solution is proposed by CeaseSPIN.org which wants to see a third party ethical journalism badge (like a goodhousekeeping seal) that journalists can use on their content if they meet spj.org ethical journalism guidelines...

It has some support but not enough. The government can't touch the press, but the marketplace can set standards - spj.org has set standards, but there's no compliance effort. CeaseSPIN.org is trying to get spj.org to develop a compliance mechanism.

While FOX definitely has a right-wing bias it is dangerous when an administration picks and chooses who to cater to. We also musn't forget that if this were a right-wing administration refusing to speak with MSNBC most of you would be decrying that decision.

Don't kid yourselves. There is no such thing as objective, unbiased news coverage in America, on ANY of the networks. The whole "left/right war" that is perpetrated by the mainstream media and the Republicans and Democrats only serves to distract the American people from important issues, like how the banks and the Federal Reserve are driving your country to bankruptcy.

Stop kidding yourselves in to believing that you're rooting for a team that cares about you. The liberal/conservative construct is meaningless. We are all INDIVIDUALS with our own ideas on different things which span the entire spectrum of liberal-to-conservative viewpoints.

Your "us versus them" mentality is misdirected. It should not be "Reps versus Dems", your focus should be on "The very-small-elite-group-that-run-things versus the rest of US"!

It's true. Fox News is the media arm of Al Queda in America.
