As part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, The Allstate Foundation and actress Mira Sorvino are encouraging American women to begin a discussion of domestic violence with their "Tell a Gal P.A.L." campaign.

"Domestic violence is one of our last dirty little secrets and we need to get it out into the light and get help to these women," Sorvino says.

WATCH THE VIDEO:

The P.A.L. part of the campaign slogan is meant to help women start a discussion among their friends and empower women who may be the victims of domestic abuse.

  • Pass It On--Break the taboo around domestic violence by talking about it. Help other women realize that economic abuse is still domestic abuse.
  • Act--Listen to friends who may be the target of abuse. Take active steps to protect yourself from physical, emotional and financial abuse in your own relationships.
  • Learn--Empower yourself with knowledge and resources available to help yourself, or someone you know, out of an abusive relationship.

As part of the Allstate's campaign to help women become more economically empowered, Allstate is offering grants and services for women experiencing abuse.

Love ya Mira...and loved you in Human Trafficking. Now I finally get to thank you for making that movie. Little infuriates me more than domestic violence towards women, something that is running rampant on this planet. I could not help but wonder if the latest attractive college girl that has come up missing was not abducted into this life of hell. Thank you.
