Ailes For President? Friends Encouraging Fox News Head To Run

Friends and associates are encouraging Fox News chief Roger Ailes to jump into the political arena for real by running for president in 2012, top sources tell POLITICO.

"Ailes knows how to frame an issue better than anybody, and that's what we need now," says one Ailes friend who is encouraging the Fox founder, chairman and CEO to seek the Republican nomination to run against President Barack Obama.

Ailes running as a Republican party would be terrific. He and his network have already chased off the social moderates and fiscal conservatives. He is what ails the party, and his run would be marked by the same mean-spirited attacks which killed McCain's chances.

I'm a vehement opponent of Roger Aisles, but he truly is a magician and world-class expert on communications. His book on the subject is one of the best. He learned from Merv Griffin, among others. He coached Ronald Reagan, who was already pretty good on his own.

Aisles is also a few other things: he is a political extremist in the American context. He is a corporatist with all the global greed that implies in today's world. He is a master at "crowd surge", using words to emotionally manipulate groups of people. He is also so good at spinning (he calls it re-framing) that he doesn't care at all about distinctions between fact, point-of-view and/or spin. He would be a dangerous opponent. He already is.

If Aisles ran for President it would at least shed the light on the political poison he represents. Count on Fox to pre-anoint him as the Second Coming and the MSM to bow and grovel, but other organizations and analysts would be able to expose this Fox for the henhouse predator he is.
