George Clooney In 'The Men Who Stare At Goats': Exclusive Sneak Peek! (VIDEO)

First Posted: 7/27/10 06:26 PM ET Updated: 5/25/11 03:25 PM ET

George Clooney stars in several movies coming out this fall, and certainly the funniest looks to be 'The Men Who Stare at Goats.' He plays a psychic member of the U.S. Army's First Earth Battalion, a military unit that uses paranormal powers (and trains by stopping goats' hearts just by looking at them).

Sound far-fetched? The movie is based on a book of the same name Jon Ronson wrote about the US military's covert paranormal activities over the past three decades and their connection with psychological control techniques used to interrogate terror suspects. In the exclusive clip below, you'll see excerpts from the film and Ronson and other experts discuss paranormal military programs.

'The Men Who Stare At Goats' opens November 6. Its all-star cast includes Ewan McGregor, Jeff Bridges and Kevin Spacey.

Interesting to read that there are some questions over the origins of this story. Credit may not be going where it's due.

Hooray for JIM CHANNON the real Jedi Warrior of the Heart portrayed by GEORGE CLOONEY
in this delightful and hilarious dark comedy. You can update with what Jim is all about
through many Youtube videos and through reading his website on the FIRST EARTH BATTALION.
http://firstearthbattalion.org/ Jim Channon is a visionary for a powerful healthy future for the earth.
I met the man in the 80's, during his Human Potential Movement explorations. I know this film will stimulate some really great discussions. The application of the real Channon work compels us now to usher in a time when we grow our own food, and apply the essence of what he is saying to create
our world as an ENCHANTED GARDEN. Look deeper than the video preview above.
I was amazed to reconnect through this film with Channon and his current work.

Loved the book, and know that this will be a great movie. I think I'm starting to really love George Clooney as an actor, even when he isn't sharing the screen with Brad Pitt.

Hope this lives up to the hype I'm giving it. "Paranormal Activity" sure didn't. Talk about overrated!

In this clip, one of the men say something about "evolving war to a higher, purely mental plane" --

and I thought: "Oh! You mean like Diplomacy?!??"

The mainstream media really dropped the ball on the government's psychic research. There are 89,900 pages of FOIA documents released a few years ago and more coming out everyday. Part of the psychic program remains classified as they targeted drug dealers and terrorists. All of this was well know at the highest levels of the government (Secretary of Defense) and continues in some capacity today, in spite of Robert Gates' statements to Ted Koppel on ABC News Nightline in 1995. There is some evidence to suggest CIA was warned about 9/11-style attacks.

You can Google "goats best evidence" for a sampling of the government files.

Yeah and the info they got was in fact next to worthless. Also here is the thing the police like to claim a psychic told them something when in reality no such thing happened they just want to keep the fact an informant told them something a secret.

I love the movie's tagline: No Goats, No Glory.

I have a dear friend that was in the Marines. He was then placed in a program called the Far See'ers. (sp). I interviewed him using video and although the program has since become widely known, he was still somewhat reluctant in discussing it with me. He never mentioned goats, but what he did describe would make one wonder. Especially the way the mil. participants were treated.Isolation,drugs,etc. I believe the Russian Mil. had a psychic program first. America had to one up it I guess. Very interesting program, especially when one is aware of the particulars.

Major Ed Dames one of the responders on this video is a total wack job. Remote viewing is his game. Tune into to the program "Coast to Coast" on the radio. Occasionaly you'll hear him when the program is about variousprojections for the future, hunting down Bin Laden, 2012 . . whatever gets the juices going . . . I love speculative fiction btw so this stuff is right up my alley . . . It's nothing but good, fun entertainment and some of the writing is practically a reason for living. . .Yet I think under this program one goat actually died! How do we know it wasn't injected with a nerve agent? Looking forward to the movie though. . .
