In Vermont recycling is the law. All unlined landfills are closed and projections are to reclaim as much as 85 percent of our trash as recyclables and compostables in the next few years. It can be done when we all pull together. There was some resistance to the changes in the laws and closing of the landfills at first but now most people take pride in knowing Vermont is 35 years ahead of the rest of the country when it comes to recycling, cogeneration on farms and composting of organic waste.
