Google Street View

A Google employee thought his first proposal ("Proposal 1.0") lacked in "pizazz". So he did what "any Silicon Valley geek would do:" proposed to his girlfriend over Google Street View by holding up a sign reading "Proposal 2.0: Marry me Leslie! " when the camera car drove by his office.

Being a practical sort of person, I would not really care how a proposal were made so long as it was timely. A good marriage takes both people thinking first of the other one's needs is the best I've ever heard it said. :)

If loving geeks is wrong, I don't wanna be right.

I think these are very sweet and from the heart. Men have wracked their brains for years coming up with clever proposals. The fact that we now have the technology and resources to do these things is great. I'll take a man using his brains and hands to make a proposal that is unique to us and our hobbies.

Thinking is anathema to religion.

I think these nerdy proposals are so much more endearing than those conventional, mundane proposals at a fancy restaurant or a crowded public space.

Someone nerd needs to make a dating site for the nerds, called eNerdate.com or something.

All novelty marriage proposals are nerdy. And they all should be declined. Because any guy who is creating an event of his proposal is more interested in grabbing the spotlight than sharing it. We are talking publcity hounds not romantics. I would be very curious to know the divorce rates of those who married after a "ain't I adorable" proposal.

It's amazing how many people think you are a prophet of doom if you don't agree with them. If you do, they think you are a spreader of sunshine.

I might agree with you, if part of my husband's proposal hadn't been in Vulcan, and if we hadn't just passed the 21-year mark. If the recipient of the talking wedding ring is a compatible spirit, they should do great.

Of course that's true. You both had a shared interest and, I am guessing, the proposal wasn't done for a gathering crowd. Congratulations on two decades, plus.
