Thanks to its $29.2 million posted income, law firm Patton Boggs has been named the top K Street firm by the National Journal.

The lobbying group made headlines late last months when former FCC chairman Kevin Martin joined the firm as its co-chairman.

From The Hill:

"We saw some pretty big pieces of legislation moving through Congress on healthcare, financial services, cap-and-trade," said James Christian, a partner at Patton Boggs. "There is a lot of activity going on."

The Hill reports that, though the economic downturn has impacted K Street, revenues grew in the third quarter as firms took up key reform issues on health care, financial services and climate change.

Tom Daschle's firm, Alston and Bird, made its debut in the top 25 of the list, while Democratic lobbyist Tony Podesta's firm, the Podesta Group, earned the title of "fastest growing firm."
