Does anyone think that texting(while not driving) may be a good thing in this case? Less ear time. Really, I hardly even use my iphone for talking anymore.
Some say this is fear mongering, but I know two men in there thirties that died from aggressive brain cancer. The common denominator, they had jobs that demanded heavy cell phone use. Especially where companies are giving their employees free cell phones and plans, so that the person doesn't have to pay one cent himself.
I am seeing an addiction with some young people these days with text messaging, if this is bad for the hands as some comments indicate from the link, they will be in trouble down the line.
On my last trip through a major airport it was amazing to see just how disengaged people are from the people directly around them, but they are texting and talking furiously on there cell phones.
And I keep seeing people texting while driving(not stopped but moving and using their knee), that is sure sign of addiction. Not only that but very dangerous.
I'm very sorry about your friends, but two cases proves precisely nothing. I knew a young brain surgeon who died of an aggressive brain tumor (horrible, horrible irony) long before cell phones were in common use. It happens -- life comes with one guarantee, that it will end, somehow.
Listen to me here ... there is NO chance of a cellphone hurting you. It's a physical impossibility. The radiation from a cellphone (or a power line) doesn't interact in any meaningful way with your body. Basic quantum physics.
Is that the same quamtum physics that states anything is possible?
No, this is real quantum physics, not the New Age caricature, which has been used to prop up all kinds of ludicrous claims. Quantum has its peculiarities, but it doesn't say that just anything is possible.
I've never heard of that brand of quantum physics. No quantum physics doesn't state anything is possible. That's a gross misinterpretation.
Anyone can state anything here without providing proof. Unfortunately there are 2,000 scientific reports that disagree with your "theory." In fact, of all reports on the effects of cell phone radiation on human health, it's 3 to 1 concluding there is risk.
Perhaps you want to read the research here: http://www
Crappy article about an important study. WHO has coordinated efforts in 13 countries to investigate whether there is a relationship between cell phone use and head and neck tumors. The study was supposed to be released years ago. Researchers in several countries have tired of waiting and released their data, which does indicate an increase in tumors amongst cell phone users. Given that the cancers involved tend to be slow growing, sometimes developing over decades, the correlation is expected to become clearer over time.
Not peer reviewed. Not scientifically challenged. Useless. Like all of these studies about this topic.
so when is our "progressive" government going to try and save us from ourselves again by deciding whats good for us and ban cell phones or tax the crap out of them because its a burden on gov't subsidized health insurance?
ITS THINKING LIKE THAT WHAT FREED THE SLAVES
I wouldn't risk my child's life on this gamble - would you?
I heard about cell phones a brain tumor connection in the late 90's, before everyone used cell phones on a regular basis. I can't put a cell phone to my ear because I get a massive headache in less than a minute. I always use an earpiece when I talk. Some brands gave me worse headaches than others (before I realized the cause, when I was incapacitated and stayed in bed for a whole day because my new phone cause me to feel like someone had microwaved my brain.)
I never keep cell phones in my pockets or near my body because I read that they give off radiation, even when they're not in use.
Years ago my boss (a 25-year-old woman who was always on her phone) collapsed and was found to have a brain tumor. I have always wondered if her cell phone was the cause.
Cell phones are a part of our culture now, but, oftentimes wish they weren't.
Yes, because the one person you knew to have a brain t.umor got it from the cell phone, while everyone else around you didn't.
I never said definitively that the cell phone was the cause, I said I WONDERED if it was the cause. I get headaches from cell phones and other people don't, so everyone is different, jack@ass. Some people are more sensitive to cell phone radiation than others, so maybe it was the cause and maybe it wasn't.
Okay, this is simply bad journalism. The report is based on an article in the Sunday Express, a rag in the UK that is reporting on an unnamed study that is suppose to come out later this year. Supposedly the WHO sanctioned the study, but nothing in the article is directly from the WHO. The result is to put pressure on the UK government to issue a strong warning. This article couldn't actually say less or rely on less facts if it were science fiction.
This story has been around for years and years without a lot of strong evidence to support it. Sweet and Low causes cancer too, remember, but only if you eat nothing else for years at a time.
If you're willing to look at "disreputable" sources, Sweet 'n' Low can be scary stuff. I don't know if Alex Constantine's writing would have convinced me to shun aspartame like the poison it is, but a personal conversation with Constantine about his research, including stuff that wasn't sourced so he could publish it, sure convinced me. (Now I just have to get my wife off the stuff.) (And talk us both out of our cell phones...)

There was also a lot of controversy for quite a few years about whether or not cigarette smoke caused cancer. Turned out that a whole lot of those studies who said it didn't were paid for by cigarette companies to muddy the waters. When I hold a cell phone to my ear too long my ear feels strange. I really don't like using one because of hte way it makes my ear feel. I think it is doing something.
i think we should all smoke more pot please.
