Jarrett Murphy: Colin Powell Endorses Bloomberg. Honest!
The mayor has praised Colin Powell as a man of ability, integrity and independence. It's been said before, and it will be said again, regardless of what Powell's record actually suggests.
Leonie Haimson: Bloomberg's Original Campaign Promises: How'd He Do?
Bloomberg recently claimed to have fulfilled nearly all of his original campaign promises when it comes to education. But guess what? There are some promises he left out of his checklist.
Jarrett Murphy: Bloomberg & Thompson's Dropout Duel
The Bloomberg camp can't blame anyone but itself for politicizing the dropout rate, since graduation statistics have figured prominently in all the Bloomberg ads and mailers to which voters have been subjected so far this year.

Bravo for the NYT. Really, the paper thinks it okay for someone to BUY the mayoral office? Maybe the cash- strapped Times is hoping for some payback for their support. Sounds like we're back to Tammany Hall days when the press was in the pocket of the greedy and powerful pols in the city. Is there any integrity left over there at the Times?
Compared to Giuliani, Bloomberg has done a fair job. Now its time for him to go back to running his business, and let someone besides the real estate developers and landlords run the city.
He must REALLY want that office ...
Makes me wonder if he REALLY is making a dollar a day to run the city ...
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm !?!
It has to be just coincidence that he packed the city ethics department with his team players, so there would be that no official investigation into whether he really has been a hands off business tycoon.
2 billion a year, to be precise.
yes.
I've already commented on the Times site to much the same effect as many of the comments so far. I am furious that Bloomie has decided to unilaterally negate the term limits that we voted on twice and then says something about restoring the status quo after his third term. Can we just say "arrogance" to the point of being obnoxious and does this mean he agrees on term limits except as they apply to himself since he has apparently achieved godlike status?
I remember angrily hanging up on one of his telephone campaign messages which began "This is Ed Koch for Mayor Mike Bloomberg". Ed is the one who caused term limits to be imposed in the first place!
Duh!
Is Mayor Michael Bloomberg buying himself the Mayorship?

.
yes.
by the way, president obama spent over $750,000,000 to get elected - so, i don't want to hear any belly-aching about how a man spends his own money...
while i'm at it, i don't want to hear anymore whining about how much the yankees spend either!
it wasn't his own money.
You don't want to hear differing opinions? Maybe you should hole up in an isolation booth and talk to yourself.
and someone else could be much greater.
F U NYT! No wonder you're going Chapter 11 soon.
i think that's what the NYT is betting against,
by latching on the money train.
NYTimes endorsed Hillary over Obama. Hopefully this is a sign that they don't pick winners and that Thompson will be elected. Bloomberg lost me early on when he doubled the fees for parking violations in the City. Where else does one have to pay $110 for an expired parking meter?! He obviously doesn't realize what impact an amount like that has on your average working person. He also sent property taxes through the roof. No thanks, I don't think I'll vote for the guy.
The one thing the NY Times does not address is:
If Bloomberg was such a great mayor - why would he need to spend 85 MILLION DOLLARS to get elected?
If he were so great - his accomplishments alone should speak for him!
But from what I have seen as a life long New Yorker - he has not even served his second term - why would anyone vote him in for a third?
So Bloomberg has made NYC work well after his eight year rule. I guess anything is possible if you allow Big Brother to exert control.
"Mr. Thompson also argues that the mayor unfairly worked to get rid of term limits so that he could run this third time. We supported his efforts to do so because term limits unfairly limit voters’ choices."
You mean like the voters' choice to enact term limits?!?
