Gary Kelly, Southwest Airlines CEO, Hints At Denver Strategy (VIDEO)

In an interview with 9News's Adam Schrager last week, Southwest Airlines CEO Gary Kelly shared some of his company's goals in the Denver market.

Southwest announced last week that it was adding 13 new routes out of DIA, bringing the airline's total number of daily departures to 127, up from just 14 in 2006.

Southwest recently made an attempt to purchase Denver-based Frontier airlines, but was out-bid by Republic Airline Holdings.

Of the bid for Frontier, Kelly told 9news:

We were interested in growing our presence in the market. They had other plans and we very much respect that. We'll continue to grow in the market. We may not grow as fast as we could have otherwise. On the other hand, it was a very complex transaction with a different equipment type for us so I think all things considered, things worked out very, very well.

Here is hoping that Southwest is finally able to put a steak through the heart of the Wright Amandment. Direct flights from DIA to Dallas Love Field would be wonderful.
