If you were a big Bi.oPha.rm company watching as the 'Gul.f Wa.r Syn.drome' class-action lawusit got closer and closer to pinning it on the innocu.lations vete.rans received, wouldn't your plan of action be:

1) get Congress to legislate away all liability for future vaccine production (achieved)

2) innoculate a new group of 11M children using national hysteria program (achieved)

3) demonstrate that GWS is a 'normal part of childhood sensitivity to the environment'

since US health statistics are just cumulative averages, and not classed by age or era?

"What's the problem? EVERYONE has whole-body skin sloughing, it's just part of growing up!"

Good! Fewer cases of Giullain Barre Syndrome and paralysis.
Most parents are concerned about the side effects, and they should be.

Follow me on this:

63% of Americans own household pets - http://www.fohowv.com/facts.htm

While a good scientific guess is that half of those Americans will wash, spray and collars their pets against fleas, that means 31% of Americans, more than 100,000,000 people, have unprotected pets and therefore exposure to flea bites.

Then off those 100,000,000 Americans, roughly 25,000,000 are children exposed to flea bites,
and those children are the ones demonstrating high incidence and susceptibility to the H1N1 flu.

While fleas may not be the primary source, they would certainly be a lethal carrier, and they would certainly have a 'latest cocktail' of H1N1 in their own blood or salivary glands, wherever it breeds.

Why isn't CDC sampling and monitoring pet fleas? Why did CDC tell the States to STOP testing and monitoring for H1N1 flu, and simply log all 'flu' cases as 'H1N1', whether they're even flu or not!?

What kind of faith-based profit-motivated healt.h'care' system do we have, that 1) doesn't monitor known disease vectors, 2) doesn't even test for the H1N1 organism, and 3) lumps everything together by symptoms alone as a 'national emergency'? (and 4) has full faith in *uncertified* live virus vaccine)

Would it be a CD.C owned by Bi.oPh.arm, the way the SE.C is own by Bi.gBan.king?

To coin a phrase from another idiotic issue: "Unless we announce disasters, no one will listen."

I think you meant, "Unless we announce disasters, no one will pay for flu shots."

"These are the same people, you people think can do a better job at running all of health care? Remind me again, why a Public "Option" is a good idea."

Evidently, grandma and grandma think the government can run health care pretty well. Weren't they the ones out in their wheelchairs and walkers shaking their fists and saying keep your hands off my government run medicare?

You cannot get the vaccine in my area even if you wanted a shot.

Let's see. Swine flue was discovered prevalent in late April of this year. We're 6-7 months later. Don't you think it's surprising that any vaccine is available at all. That it can't be delivered instantly to everyone is no surprise.

Take you health in your own hands. In fact, wash those hands regularly. Don't go out if you are sick. Cover your mouth if you cough or sneeze. Let the young and vulnerable get their shots first. Don't hoard stuff. Be careful.

And, how many people are already scared into not taking the vaccine when it's available?

Since it takes 6 months to develop and manufacture a vaccine, no.

Gawd Americans are a bunch of crybabies! When talk about the swine flu first came out, people were saying the Obama Administration was talking about it too much and it was just to scare people. Then people were saying how can the vaccination work because they didn't have enough time to make it. Then people said they don't want to be forced to take it. After that, people want to know why there isn't enough shots ready for the people. Now people are screaming because their children are getting the flu. Now, people want the government to help them. The WHO and the Obama Adminstration warned people 6 months ago that children would be affected the most. In the 6 months that people knew it was a possibilty this flu could hit big, what were you doing.

1. People should have been building their children's immune system up. Try cutting out some of that meat.
2. How many people have purchased their own masks? Waiting for the government to get them for you?
3. How many people have stocked up with tissues and hand sanitizer.
4. How many people have saved a few vacation days or sick days just in case you have to use them for yourself or your children.
5. How many people put a dollar or two away if they have to get a little something extra if the children get sick.
6. What the heck have you been doing all summer besides complaining.

This is a 2004 article. We have had plenty of time to get ready!!

Flu Crisis Sparks Fresh Look at Vaccine Production

By Michael S. Rosenwald
Washington Post Staff Writer
Saturday, November 27, 2004;

"When you walk into a cell culture factory, you see gleaming stainless steel -- glass and steel and computers and very few people," said Noel Barrett, vice president of research and development at Baxter International Inc. of Deerfield, Ill., which has built a cell culture factory in the Czech Republic.

Walking into a chicken egg factory, by contrast, Barrett said, "You see lots of eggs, thousands and thousands of eggs, and lots of people, and you see that these factories are quite old."

They are still using the old egg embryo culture method?? So much for us depending on corporations for vaccines in an emergency!. What's new. Corporations are like Deep Space Nine Ferengi: no profit, no cooperation. (But we knew this). There is a much faster way to react to a threatening disease pandemic, but that would mean 1: Replace Old Technology, and 2: A good chance the threat might not materialize and unused stocks would not be sold. Both unprofitable. This is what happens when you let corporations make the decisions for governments. The vaccines should be made in government labs on the best equipment available and in appropriate quantities. We could then react much faster and be less likely to over produce vaccines thereby reducing costs while being able to save more lives. Get the G.D. Corporations out of the decision making process on health issues, please!

Remind us why basic healthcare for everyone is not a good idea.

Vaccines are a treatment for an existing problem (so they tell us).
Healthcare is in place to prevent health problems. Health "care".

Savvy ?

Because it's a utopian notion, and impossible to achieve.

This fiasco proves it.
