Saturn V

NASA's 363 foot Saturn V was a three-stage booster used to send American astronauts to moon in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Although the last one launched in 1973, it reportedly remains the largest and most powerful launch vehicle that was operational. It weighed 6.5 million pounds (the Ares I-X, by contrast, weighs 1.8 million pounds).
