What's weird is that right now, in another article on the same HUFFPO page tells about how China wants to punish google for tagging its media as "malicious virus", LOL.

The same old silly story. China with it's population and manufacturing capacity will dominate human interaction. The reality is the growth of Europe and the US was all based around the growth of the middle class, with solid wages, the ability to invest in their own homes and to have a measure of control over their country. China's manufacturing growth is based upon permanently preventing the growth of the middle class, of slave wages of 50 odd cents an hour, of workers trapped in dormitories 7 days a week and, of a grossly polluted and exploited environment. The only thing China has to look forward to is socio economic collapse, when it's environment is no longer able to absorb the pollution load and an enslaved workforce revolts. You do no buy product on 50 cents an hour, you do not interact on the internet, you decide nothing and you control nothing, all you do is struggle to survive from day to day.

This is an odd if not ignorant comment, considering the fact that China has actually brought out more people out of poverty in the last 2 decades than rest of the world combined (according to World Bank study published in Apr). 50 cents per hour is also hardly slave wage if you live in a place where you can buy your lunch for about 50 cents.

The reason why China is in this article is because there are more people in China using internet today than the US. If there is no middle class in China how can they have access to the internet?

Just more "New Age Thinking"

This article basically says that the English, French, Spanish etc. speaking populations have no voice in the future marketplace of the internet.

This guy will be lucky to have a job in 5 years if this is true. Maybe he better be thinking about keeping ahead of the Chinese or he himself will be making his company and position obsolete.

Yes. Learn a Chinese character a day with me. In 5 years time, you will learn 1800 characters and be ready.

Seems like 1800 characters would require a larger keyboard.

Wonderful ! -- Maybe well-educated under-employed Americans will be able to read about the radically new internet technology on their old computers.

How are Americans going to adjust to being left on the ash heap of history by China? How will American environmentalists deal with the Chinese indifference towards them? It's all coming so soon, isn't it? About ten years ago I started teasing my students at my very knee-jerk liberal college. I'd say, "I know how much you suffer from that huge load of guilt you carry around just for being an American: massacring the Indians, all those slaves, Vietnam, the American Empire, all of our pollution, global warming, all that stuff that has made us the cancer of the world. Well, don't worry! Help is at hand. Within your lifetime, the Chinese will completely replace America at the top of the heap, and America will shrink to being just an oversized Britain after the loss of its empire. No more imperial guilt! What a relief for you all!"

How are Rush, Glenn, and O'Reilly going to deal with the American sunset? How about Joe the Plumber?
