I didn't see this as making fun of gays. I saw it as a parody of those inane morning shows that increasingly air types of foolish segments (read: Today Show), and the vapid hosts and the so-called experts who are booked for these shows. In addition, this provided a vehicle to demonstrate the ridiculous homophobic logic displayed by whose who think that homosexuality is some thing learned.

Dress him up as Larry Craig. Or Ted Haggard.

Wow. On a day when historical anti-hate crime legislation is signed into law you have this? Why not also "how to buy a feminine costume for your butch daughter"?

This article should be taken down. It is NOT funny.

Everything is funny, until they're making fun of you. It's funny to make fun of someone in a wheelchair, unless you're in a wheelchair. It's funny to poke fun at catholics, unless you're a catholic. It's ok to make a Polish joke, unless you're Polish. Do you see my point?

Look, it's making fun of the anxiety of the parents as much as anything. Relax. Sometimes, comedy is offensive but at the same time, if you pay attention, the irony is conveying a serious social message. Do you think this is an anti-gay piece? It isn't. Dig a little further under the surface.

Whenever you have to explain comedy, it's not comedy. This piece is not funny it is offensive and yes, anti-gay.

Oh... The Onion... Halloween was terrible for me one year. God let there be no photos. I think I understand Kim Jong Il perfectly.

I want to acquire or erase most of my childhood photos. Yes, I was born a man, with a hat, a cane and a beard, I just walked out one day...

Everybody, remember that this is The Onion. I agree that they crossed some lines they shouldn't have crossed. However, that is the price of satire. You can't have good satire from someone who is afraid to offend people or to cross lines. Yes, I was offended by some of it, but the absurdity of it still made me laugh a little. If the price of having satire in my life is that I get offended every once in a while, I'll gladly live with that.

The Onion has turned to mocking gays lately, this is the second in a couple months. I hope everyone let's them know that we won't put up with this.

This mocks people threatened by gays, not the gays themselves so much.

This is absolutely appalling. The Onion stopped being funny a few years ago, but this goes beyond not funny. It is offensive on every level, and The Onion should be deeply ashamed. I can only hope that they were attempting to satirize homophobia, but all they succeeded in doing was enforcing it. I can't imagine that the people who are "laughing their asses off" at little boys being called "lady boys" and "faggy" would be laughing quite so hard if they were being called racial or religious epithets. Shame!

PFLAG mission statement continued:
Our Strategic Goals

One. Build the capacity of our organization at every level so that we may have all the resources, in the form of information, people and funding, necessary to move forward in our work with the greatest possible effect.

Two. Create a world in which our young people may grow up and be educated with freedom from fear of violence, bullying and other forms of discrimination, regardless of their real or perceived gender identity or sexual orientation or that of their families.

Three. Make our vision and our message accessible to the broadest range of ethnic and cultural communities, ending the isolation of families with gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender family members within those communities.

Four. Work toward full inclusion of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons within their chosen communities of faith.

Five. Create a society in which all GLBT persons may openly and safely pursue the career path of their choice, and may be valued and encouraged to grow to their full potential in the workplace.

Six. Create a society in which all gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons may enjoy, in every aspect of their lives, full civil and legal equality and may participate fully in all the rights, privileges and obligations of full citizenship in this country.

We welcome the participation and support of all who share in our Vision and Mission and who hope to realize our goals.

I think this is a perfect time and place to show the support groups for Gay people and Families.
This "Satire" is not funny to the victims of hate.
Here are some positive and healing words from the parents and friends of Gays and Lesbians:

Our Vision. We, the parents, families and friends of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons, celebrate diversity and envision a society that embraces everyone, including those of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities. Only with respect, dignity and equality for all will we reach our full potential as human beings, individually and collectively. PFLAG welcomes the participation and support of all who share in, and hope to realize this vision.

Our Mission. PFLAG promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons, their families and friends through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights. Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays provides opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity, and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity.

This is not hilarious, this is not funny. If they were trying to make your kid less black and used the n word, I don't think anyone would be LYAO. This is true of any minority and hate words used in the video. People use these words when the kill gay people and leave them to die in coma's. Gay bashing is up in the world and you would think that a group of educated people would understand that this is wrong. This is not cute, it's not funny and it's not appropriate.
