Southwest Airlines' Denver Expansion Continues With Sponsorship Of Denver Nuggets

Just days after Southwest Airlines CEO Gary Kelly declared that his airline would "continue to grow" in Denver despite failing to acquire Denver-based Frontier airlines, Southwest announced Wednesday that it would renew its sponsorship of the Denver Nuggets.

From the AP:

DALLAS (AP) -- Southwest Airlines Co. says it signed a two-year deal to extend its sponsorship of the NBA Denver Nuggets.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

The airline, a regular advertiser on sports TV programming, said the agreement includes arena signs and halftime promotions during Nuggets home games. The airline became a sponsor last year.

Last week, the airline announced plans for additional flights to and from Denver next year.

Denver-based frontier airlines, widely though to be Southwest's primary competition in the market, dropped their sponsorship of the Nuggets in December of 2008 after declaring bankruptcy.
