This may be our most controversial slideshow ever. We left off black licorice despite protestations, we kept gum drops on regardless of the pleas to abstain. Well now we need you to vote, and if enough of you express hatred for a specific "treat" we may add it to the list.

Let's just be clear: These are gross as in "no one wants to eat them" not gross as in "I can't believe I let my child put that in their body." Pixy stix are gross in the latter sense but kids LOVE them, so they didn't make the list.

None of those are gross.

Most of those candies you can buy at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store on a daily basis.

Y'all are CRAZY!!! Most of those candies are a favorite at my house!.
You can get chocolate bars at every grocery store, drug store or 7/11 BUT you have to wait all year for those Brach's (no other kind will do) mellowcreme pumpkins they are made with honey!!!! OMG they are soooo good. Now when someones handing out the Godiva chocolates let me know.
Circus Peanuts were my Nana's fave, Bit O' Honey is awsome but you have to like almonds,Nik L Nips are such a throwback to my childhood and my kids go crazy when we find them at the candy shops in the mall.Vanilla Tootsie Rolls are ALMOST as good as the chocolate ones...the other flavors just taste like Starbursts.
Who gives out gumdrops for Halloween and what is Sesame Crunch? I'll agree Rootbeer Barrels are depressing.
Now when they bring back Reeses mini Peanut Butter Cups in the box...not individually wrapped I'll be happy.
Oh, I'm shocked they didn't list my all time FAVORITE....LICORICE!!! I traded everyone on my street for their licorice jelly beans...YUMMY!

I couldn't agree more. This is a complete and total LOSER post. While I personally hate Circus Peanuts, and refuse to recognize sesame bars as candy, I pretty much love the rest of these. NECCO Wafers are my absolute favorite!! I can even name all the flavors (the purple is the most arcane, but the white is the trickiest). When I lived overseas I had them shipped to me. And if somebody is stupid enough to say they hate Root Beer Barrels...

Anything with the word "gummy" in the name should be on this list (and outlawed). Anything wrapped in chocolate that is not another confection should be on this list (that includes cherries, Goobers, and Raisinets). Anything created solely as a marketing tie-in to a movie should be on this list. As should anything created just to be odd or different (ex: "Nerds").

I'm open to new ideas, but i think candy should be a confection, not a marketing gimmick. The classics always work best :chocolate, vanilla, caramel, aromatics, true fruits. Vomit-falvoured jelly beans do not qualify.

I was talking to a client and we both discovered we liked circus peanuts. He was telling me how he opens the packages and lets them get a little hard, and I was saying, exactly, I do too!

When I was a child, I craved chocolate in any form, but whenever my dad bought me a candy bar, it was the despised Bit O'Honey.

I love Necco wafers but hate any kind of candy corn.

The wax bottles bring back good memories, and what's wrong with root beer barrels and gum drops?

My younger sister mentioned having an afternoon cup of coffee and on hand candy corns and was FLYING.

I must say I'll look into all kudos for fruity toosie rolls. I didn't know.

Back in 1998, when I was a sugar addict, some of these candies actually appealed to me. I certainly wouldn't have called them gross. But what was gross was my obsessive attraction to sugary "treats." I think it's more gross that people have "forgotten" that we're facing never-before-seen rates of obesity in children, and yet adults are spending more than ever on Halloween candy this year! See my Huffington Post item about it. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/connie-bennett/halloween-sales-of-empty_b_337164.html

It's hard to look at Halloween candy with the same (mostly) carefree attitude we had 20-30 years ago. I know kids whose teen years will be remembered in terms of a life indoors with no sports or exploring of the world around them, only video games and sedentary activities due to obesity. When I think of the myriad youthful activities that shaped my life and almost everyone I know, this is nearly as tragic as the increased chance of diabetes.... Of course, much of the current weight problem may be related more to daily diet and exercise than sweets.

Gross? I should say not. They are all wonderful. Many, like circus peanuts, are available in most stores. However, if you go to www.economycandy.com (a veritable paradise in NYC) you can find them all.

No one wants to eat them? I love 'em all. Back in the stone age when I was trick-or-treating, anyone giving out wax bottle candy got three visits from me.

Do they really sell any of these candies anymore? Most of those I haven't seen since I was a kid. I've bought a lot of Halloween candy since then and have never run across any of these. Even when my kid was young enough to trick or treat, he never brought any of this dookie home. I'm thinking the author of this poll is showing his/her age.

who wrote this? some of the choices are quality candies! For instance, Bits o Honey are the shizzle and Root Beer Barrels have always been solid...and Necco, while they don't possess any strength of character when it comes to flavor, will always be a sentimental favorite. Personal favorite that gets no play here: the Brachs line of soft, sweet treats. Oh, and the sesame treats! Growing up with a health nut mom in northern CA I was exposed to lots of these...didn't appreciate them at the time and doubtful the kids that came to our door did either, but love them now.

For those wanting something to pull their teeth out, try a Watermelon Jolly Rancher.

Guaranteed to pull fillings out.

you're not supposed to chew them!

But they are awesome. Watermelon and Fire jolly ranchers were currency at my Jr High for a little while. :)
