What's Your Reaction?

During an interview with CNN's Campbell Brown, senior White House adviser Valerie Jarrett continued the Obama administration's pushback against Fox News for, they say, not living up to their "fair and balanced" slogan.

Responding to a direct question from Brown about if she thought Fox News was biased, Jarrett said, "Of course they're biased." Jarrett would not say the same of MSNBC when Brown asked her about that cable network, instead expanding on her original answer:

This is the thing. I don't want to just generalize that all Fox is biased, or that another station is biased. I think what we want to do is look at it on a case by case basis. And when we see a pattern of distortion, we're going to be honest about that pattern of distortion

Jarrett added that it's "actually not true" that the administration only sees that pattern of distortion on Fox News.

"I think that what the administration has said very clearly is that we're gonna speak truth to power," she said.

Jarrett told Brown that the White House will go after any network, not just Fox News, that distorts the truth.

"We're calling everybody out," she said. "This isn't anything that's simply directed at Fox. We want the American people to have a clear understanding. There's so much at stake right now, we really don't have a lot of time for nonsense and distortions."

Ooh, I like that. That's something Obama can hang his hat on to fight the smears Fox/hate radio. To say that they are going to give truth to power. That we don't have time for nonsense -- and... more >>

I love how she tries and dodges the MSNBC label as bias....

MSNBC caters to its liberal base, Fox to their independent/conservative base... so what? Its a ratings game.

At least have the decency to call a spade, spade. The Obama Admin. just lies and distorts the truth at every turn to divert attention to their lack of progress.

Such a lame liberal saying. "Truth to power". Good grief. It makes me want to vomit every time someone uses it in a sentence.

She is a coward and a hypocrite to sidestep the question about MSNBC. She does not represent Americans but her own ego and ideology. Well, of course.

so the WH should denouce organizations that simply don't support the President's plans? nevermind if the critisism is valid it is opposition that must be silenced?

Then why are you here, letsc? If you don't like it, don't visit. Like it or not, we--unlike the media, who are SUPPOSED to be unbiased--are entitled to our own opinions...and that goes for republicans and democrats alike. It would be wrong for HuffPo to discriminate otherwise. That's not to say we can't disagree with each other, just that we have the right to have the discussion here on HP.

And RightWingMarine, it's not that the WH is denouncing Fox or any other "news outlet" who doesn't support the president...the problem is that Fox touts themselves as a media source when they are nothing more than a grassroots organization for the right wing. If you don't believe me, just watch their commercials. They organize protests...i.e. the 9-12 project, which clearly is a conflict of interest when you call yourself a "fair and balanced" news organization. Clearly they are neither. If they were fair and balanced they would have also supported a liberal agenda as well. So my point being actions speak louder than words. If you're told certain things over and over again, eventually you will start to believe it, which is exactly why Fox has such a large following (of mostly right-wingers). You start believing that every other media source out there is in kahoots with your oppositions--which is exactly how Fox has you hooked...and blinded.

Hmmm. I'm not sure I would have put it that way. "Go after"? I would rather they somehow demand that News orgs do not participate in organizing and promoting rallies. Bias and truth... not easy to police. And I think the WH should just let the liars get exposure for being liars. That's the beauty of the "internets".

It's one thing to entertain, its another to propagandize, lie and deceive which is what fox does. They don't give the people what they want. They attract a very cynical yet gullible part of the population and feed them misinformation .

The administration should ignor the GOP and fox and get on with running the country for its citizens. republicans are never going to support Obama and fox will follow them. Treat both like they have the plague and do what is right. This means that it is time to forget bipartisanship and do what they were elected to do. To choose another path will lead to far less support in future elections.

That site is not about Fox News. It is about allowing ACORN to continue to rip off the American taxpayer.

"You have to evolve if you want to survive in the commercial world," O'Reilly said, according to BU's Daily Free Press. "If you are going to do a straight newscast in prime-time, you are going to lose."

Yep. However, it is a different sort of target. Obama had two of the MSNBC prime time hosts vist him for 2.5 hours two weeks ago Monday. He must have had a lot of talking points to download if it took 2.5 hours.
