I believe mindfulness training and cognitive therapy could be helpful, but many can't afford to go for professional help. Having done an overnight sleep study, I learned little except I don't have sleep apnea, but don't go into deep sleep for long enough. I found meditation, putting on a relaxation or sleep cd when I turn out the light, moving the tv out of the bedroom, spraying a lavender mist around the room just before retiring and keeping the bedroom at a comfortable temperature, very helpful. If you lie awake thinking about everything you need to do the next day, or everything that bothered you that day, journal. Write for about a half hour before going to sleep. Write out the things that bothered you during the day, things you want to do the next day, then.....p
