Hulu -- a joint venture of News Corp, NBC Universal, and Disney -- has become the go-to destination for TV content on the Web, providing a high-quality experience online with relatively few commercial interruptions. Launched less than two years ago, it's already the #4 provider of video online, streaming almost 500 million videos in August. And while it's not yet profitable, a recent analysis valued the company at $750 million.

Tipping Point: “Hulu's original business plan did not include phrases like ‘and then Tina Fey will impersonate Sarah Palin and an online sensation will ensue,’" says Kilar. "We're ever thankful for the wondrous and at times wacky things that helped get Hulu to this early point.”

Coming Storm: News Corp President & COO Chase Carey recently said that Hulu plans to start charging for content as early as 2010.
