Politics Daily:

Sitting in the front row at a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing, directly in sight of committee Chairman John Kerry, two women discreetly held up two pink cardboard signs that read "U.S. War = Terrorism" and "Drone Attacks Kill Civilians."

The women, Toby Blome and Martha Hubert, are part of Code Pink, a nationwide antiwar group that formed in 2002. They were quietly protesting the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as former CIA agent Robert Grenier testified that a significant increase in troops is required to fend off al-Qaida in the latter country. Since the beginning of the Iraq war in 2003, Code Pink protesters had been a common, often colorful, presence on Capitol Hill.

I have to say I am so disappointed in our government. What is this war costing us and what is the gain? Bring our troops home and let us get back to the great country we use to be.

Wrap the flag around me boys, to die is far more sweet
As long as it's some other mothers son dying on a foreign street.

A pointless war fought for a people who cant wait to see troops go home!

Time for bed!
Trying to get through to the M0r0n Majority is tiring and seemingly a waist of some possible good sleep!
And of course passed out would put me at the average mental state of most Americans! Unconscious!

Ok SO! our CIA failed! our Policing the world FAILED!
Our War campaign's FAILED! our financial institutions FAILED.
Our government officials FAILED!
So we keep doing the same thing over and over and do not learn?
And i am going to have faith in any of them now?
That would be A Sucker of tremendous Gullibility!

WHAT IS THE OBJECTIVE?
WHO ARE WE AT "WAR" WITH?
WHAT and where was the deceleration for war in Afghanistan made?
And WHY are Americans incapable of asking these questions?
And getting any straight answers?

The bombs going off in Kandahar can be heard in my backyard too. Very noisy, embarrassing. Wakes me up and the neighbors. And I'm in Illinois!

You ain't seen nothing yet. If Obama still has us in Afghanistan, with our loved ones being propped up as targets for the Taliban regime, the entire year of 2010 is going to see a return to the 70's, and the majority of those who voted for this pitiful mistake or another are going to be sent packing. Obama will be powerless until 2012.

Its time to get out of there. We can never win a war without the support of its people. LESSON LEARN: - VIETNAM.

There is no doubt Obama is GWB light. His actions in continuing an illegal war are completely unacceptable and should cease NOW. The only change we got was color. Bring the troops home!

Why are we involved at all? Are we still looking for Bin Laden or has the mission changed and nobody told us? Seems the mission has changed into something else and now we are defending poppy fields and drug bosses like Karzai and his drug lord brother. Is this what why we can't get roads in and our bridges fixed?

Positioning for Pakistan-a state that failed to keep Bhuto alive is going to be able to safequard nuclear weapons.

I hate all this f-n war as much as anyone, having lived on military bases for eighteen years, I would wager I have a whole lot more time dealing with wars than many who are in the states. Unlike some who are fundamenally oppossed to war for any reason, there are times when it is necessary.

That said, the whole idea of weapons in Pakistan falling into the control who knows is something a lot more folks are going to need to think about.

Simply leaving the region does not make the situaion go away or improve and leaving those weapons uncontrolled is simply not going to be tollerated.

There were mass demonstrations prior to Iraq-around the world-did it make any difference?
The majority of the American public has gone about its business for the past eight years, half elected Bush again, and the whole notion that the anti-war coalitioni in and of itself is going to motivate a pullout is wishfull thinking.

More troops are headed to Afghanistan/Pakistan (back door)-like it or not-and this is from the President who said something about ending these wars which he knew then was not going to happen.

Pakistani weapons are the concern.

I appreciate your input WilliamL but after all that, I ask again, why are we there?? I thought it was about Bin Laden. Now you say this war is about keeping nukes out of the hands of someone we don't like?. WTF man?? When did the mission change? Shouldn't this be something the UN takes up and the world get involved with? How in bloody hell is it just the United States financing this BS??
Pardon me but I'm not understanding any of this. President Barack Obama has to decide to send young adults to the tune of 40 thousand to protect what again? Nukes??
Pardon me if I don't buy this as the reason for us being there. Seems to me, if there is a concern of nukes falling into the wrong hands, we / they should be about the business of deactivating them right f'n now because they cannot defend them themselves. If they are not doing that then it would seem something else is being protected more important than some damn nukes. Moreover, why is that OUR problem alone? We made a lot of noise during Bushco's build up to go into Iraq (for what that was worth) to consult with the UN, so why is there no noise from the congress about wantonly tossing service men into that oven? WHAT IS THE MISSION?
