Once again the gov't will pretend to look at the disgraceful practice of defense industry corporate welfare, nothing will change, & once again the taxpayers will assume that the "watchdogs" are on the job . . .

It would be cheaper to just give 1 million dollars to every politician who qualifies to run for election. It would save trillions of wasted taxpayer money and make our country stronger and safer.

We need to get these parasitic lobbyists out of our government.

It seems like fleecing in the front door and then out the back door. Pennsylvaina Manufacturers Association sells insurance to the working men--and of course does everything that they can to deny those working folks coverage when they are in need--and then take that money they fleeced from Americans and greese the palms of military contract controlling politicians. A sweet deal for them. But it sounds like b.l.o.o.d. money to me.

The love of money IS the root of all eviI.

THE AVERAGE GALLON OF FUEL costs $400.00 to $1000.00 in afghanistan. That is the fully burdened cost of fuel. The marines alone already use 800,000 gallons per day. It is outrageous & this war needs to be stopped! Please read & repost often!

I was looking for somewhere to post that to make the point. This is why these manufactured conflicts won't end and why they need the Arab bogeymen so badly.

America had better wake the f*ck up and soon.

A defense budget for JUST THIS YEAR was signed today for $680 billion. We're quibbling snout $900 billion over 10 YEARS for health care. That's $90 billion a year. The defense budget comes to $10 TRILLION over $10 years. God this country is retarded.

We will never have a democratic government, and certainly not one "of the people, by the people ,for the people" unless we get the money out of the system.

Or become the biggest lobbyist group to contend with.

Starting the boycott on Black Friday November 27, 2009. Spread the word!

They count on our buying/spending power. GDP=consumerism

Lobbying For: this holiday season in the best interest of American citizens struggling to make ends meet, or to get through another day of joblessness and hopelessness everywhere across our nation. The rest of us still surviving the economic crisis are opting out utilizing financial protest by not buying into the consumerism of the holidays. This includes not using banking & credit products for holiday purchases.

Basically, only purchase what we essentially need and leave the cheap Chinese crap on the shelves. Beforehand writing or calling congress, making it clear if they don’t start doing something proactive that we can see or approve of to help the plight of ordinary Americans over Wall Street or the Banking Industry then this country can look for other ways to make up for the GDP losses else where. Hey congress, get it from the banking industry or Wall Street through heavy taxation on bonuses. We have already begun our protesting.

There are members in both "Corrupt " parties that need to be investigated, and need to be put behind bars for a very long time. This has been the problem in this nation, the politicians have an inherent belief they are above the very rules , laws that they subject all the underlings to. The corruption is very deep seated in this nation that fools itself thinking its a nation of godliness, when in fact it is the opposite.

As soon as I heard Jack Murtha's name, I wasn't suprised in the least bit. Why he gets re-elected by his district is beyond me. He has to be one of the most corrupt members of the house.

Sheesh...What do people expect from politics....
Occasionally, politicians (or a politician) rise above and becomes a statesman, a leader, a man (or woman) for all seasons...
For the most part, however, we send politicians to Washington (or to any State capital) to get back our money. We pay our taxes, then we send someone to get as much of that money back as possible in the form of gov't spending, grants, infrastructure, military bases, services or whatever. That being the case, it only makes sense that we send our most avaricious, single-minded, underhanded, competitive, least ethical people...otherwise, the other guy gets our money. There's nothing wrong with this...it's like a footbll team fielding the person who will stop at nothing to get the ball into the end zone...that's who you a WANT on the field.
At the same time we do try to find and elect fair minded, good people to come up with ideas that advance our nation and society...
But should we be surprised that there's some ethical slippage -- if not outright dishonesty -- in politics...NO...who else could survive what is essentially a rotten business (with an occasional silver lining); fighting over money and making "your people" out to be better or more important than "their people."
We need to accept politics for what it is and do our part -- staying informed, voting out the wrong people, etc. -- and stop whining....
