Tom Hanks Loves Beyonce

NEW YORK — Tom Hanks is down with the single ladies.

Hanks first racked his brain when asked for his favorite tune of 2009 while backstage at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 25th anniversary concert Thursday.

Then, the song came to him – though he didn't know all the words.

"Dada-dada ring on it! Dada-dada ring on it!" he sang, as he tried to remember.

"That is a damn fine song, the Beyonce song ... because it's infectious," the 53-year-old actor said of Beyonce's No. 1 smash, "Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It.)"

Hanks said "Single Ladies" resonates with him because that's what he told his wife, actress Rita Wilson, when they first met: "I'm gon' put a ring on that finger. I'm gon' take that thing home."

He also joked: "Kanye West has nothing to do with my embracing of that song."

For those who criticize Beyonce's acting, few could've portrayed Etta James better than she did in Cadillac Records. And, as one who grew up loving some Etta James, I dare say Beyonce's richly nuanced versions of my favorite Etta songs moved me more than the originals. Beyonce is going to get that Oscar she says she wants because she has the drive and work ethic to accomplish anything she sets out to do. Her parents did a great job raising her. Beyonce is a beautiful, multi-talented, wildly sucessful young business woman who is also a gracious lady. Like our president, I think Beyonce is a wonderful role model.

Although I don't like how she dresses on stage in scanty clothes (I have yet to see a male vocalist dress like that), I do agree with your other comments. She's quite the lady and has conducted herself as such thru a long career. Who behaves in public these days after being in the business since they were 9?!!!

She is possessed when she goes on stage: she has admitted that a different, wild, uncontrollable persona emerges when she goes on stage. Hence, she grabbed her crotch when she was at Abu Dhabi, UAE for the Formula 1 race. People were shocked and disgusted and she will likely not be allowed to return, just as she was pressured not to sing in Malaysia.

The hypocricy in these entertainers is tearing down American culture and parents must be aware that these types of entertainers infect their kids with hypocricy. I know this is a liberal website, but if you have kids and you like them to have sex and dress sexy and they listen to Beyonce from age 8, dont be surprised when they're pregnant at 14, or catch HPV at 16, or suffer rape at 17 after partying with the football team, or worse.
