Daylight Saving Time

WASHINGTON (AP) -- That time already?

Come Sunday, standard time would again be the standard in America.

Switching time: 2 a.m. Sunday, local time, when clocks were to be set back an hour.

Good news for most folks - an extra hour of sleep. Bad news for workers on the overnight shift - more work time.

Some states and territories didn't observe daylight-saving time, so they didn't have to switch back. That's the case in Arizona, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Marianas.

Daylight-saving time returns March 13.

I went to the Tourneau TimeMachine (the world's largest watch store) in NYC yesterday. Its employees were in the middle of a five-day long daylight savings clock-setting marathon. I posted some photos, along with more info about their process, on my blog. Feel free to check it out!

Standard time is left over from the days when most Americans were farmers and needed early light to tend animals and fields. It does not work in our modern age. A little light on the drive home would make most of us feel better and would lift spirits at this dark time in our history.

I absolutely HATE daylight saving time. The late days in summer is great, but the getting dark early just s*cks. I wish they would get rid of it.

Why can't we just go with the natural flow of time with the seasons? We gain an hour but waste how many hours changing a zillion clocks? How many hours of sleep are lost reacclimating our interrupted sleep patterns.

Maybe this is why there are so many sleep deprived people walking around.

Hey President Obama, want to get reelected in a landslide even if the republicans somehow pull their heads out and actually produce someone more viable than squash?

Get rid of this asinine practice.

Perhaps you should get out of the asinine practice of taking any opportunity to attack the president. This story is about the time change. President Obama did not do it.

You're so right. And guess what, kids? The older you get, the more difficult the adjustment becomes. I have no idea why this is, but when I was a kid it was no big deal. Now it takes days for things to feel right again.

Oh, and the closer you are to nature the worse it is too. Someone should have told the wildlife about the clock change, because I nearly got pecked to death when I was "late" opening the bird feeder this morning.

I'm so glad we got rid of that extra hour of sun light, it was burning my flowers up. Those long hot sunny days was just a detriment to our gardens!

The channels make sure to remind
Our watches we need to rewind;
Like they did at Fox
Which turned back its clocks
To where they're four decades behind.

Im not a Gopussy
ans i live in az
no way would i want to have daylight savings time it rediculous practice

how much light or dark you get is based on where on the planet you are
more north you have lots of sun in summer less in winter
close to equator u have the same

here in the az we get 250 days of sunshine we have industry and agriculture and havent need to add or steal an hour in 80 years

try to cheat your body is stupid

the only sad thing is now everthing on tv is 1 hour back

I always find it interesting that my pets are expecting stuff - like food - but the clock says otherwise.

Me too, heh ! It doesn't affect me much, but my dogs get that expectant look an hour too early. It takes about a week for the to adjust.

It always surprises me to see the grumbling when the time changes. I recall during the Carter administration, Daylight Saving Time lasted all year. People squawked about that, too - mostly because it was pitch black when the kids went to school. A lot of parents were concerned for their children's safety. Personally, I like the time change. When Daylight Time takes effect, it's a sign of Spring. It also keeps it from getting light at 4:00 a.m. Standard Time is a little different. I don't particularly like the sun going down at 4:30 in the afternoon, but it does make sense in some ways to have it lighter earlier in the morning.

Politicians have managed successfully to take flip-flopping to such an extreme that it affects time.

It was done originally to prevent train wrecks. Politicians saved lives.

And now, according to some evidence, clock changing is so disruptive to people's sleep that in spring it actually causes car wrecks.

So I reluctantly changed my clocks to conform to the new time. This though with it already getting dark so early it will now be dark even an hour earlier. I would rather have an extra hour of darkness in the morning and while at work, then I would have an hour less of daylight after work.

This is clearly an effort by President Obama and his satanic allies to add an extra hour to the halloween evening and allow more witchcraft and occult rituals. I'm calling Orley Taitz. She will get to the botttom of this. Sure, it's a Bush era change, but, if the facts don't fit fictions just fine.

I wish that there was no daylight savings time. Summer days would naturally be longer just due to the earths position to the sun.

Under the bushie adm. he extended daylight savings by a month, moving it back to weeks in the spring and forward 2 weeks in the fall. The reason he gave was "it was energy savings", which is complete bs coming from someone who doesn't even believe in science and thinks the world is 6,000 years old.

Someone posted this had to do with the "golf lobby". I had heard that too, and believe it. It's possible that they make a LOT of money in that extra month.
