NEW DELHI, India -- It's the night before the Hindu festival Dussehra and Dr. Rishma Dhillon Pai is preparing for a long day come morning. One patient has already scheduled a cesarean section for the auspicious occasion, and another just checked in for the same, even though the hospital is officially closed for the holiday.

In America many women opt for surgery in order to attract a mate to get them pregnant. This usually results in high travel expenses going to foreign countries to adopt a child.
Ego driven surgery rarely has the intended outcome. (no need to thank me for this erroneous information. I do this as a hobby.)

Don't the women realize that the positive affect of the date (via the stars) is nullified if the child isn't delivered vaginally.....?

Next time someone tells you that astrology is a harmless superstition.....

Superstition strikes again.

I planned my childs birth so she would come on a day the moon was in a favorable position. I just made sure I had unprotected sex after 8 months of pelvice rest. 2 hours later I was in labor and had the baby the next day, the moon was still in that good position, too. I got what I wanted the old fashioned way.

There are many good reasons to have a c-section, and people sometimes like to keep these issues private. Don't judge others for having a c-section, nor be upset or angry because they had to have a c-section or feel like a failure because they had to have a c-section. If someone is having a herpes outbreak, (a private issue,) they would have a cs to avoid baby becoming ill and possibly blind. If there has been a previous vag delivery in which the delivery was difficult and the child was injured (ie, brain damage, like my first child, or perhaps cerebral palsy, etc.) , Sometimes it is a repeat c-section to prevent the risk of a ruptured uterus (which sometimes happens with a v-bac a vag birth after c-s.) this doesn't happen often but in this case , as a nurse, I have seen a baby born having seizures and die in after a few days of suffering, and the mom nearly loose her uterus and could have bleed to death if heroic measures weren't taken. Even a few of these a year is too many. Sometimes the baby is too big for the mothers birth canal (you can't judge by a persons outsides; ultrasounds and sometimes xrays are done to check). The most important thing is to have a healthy baby. If the baby is in stress with decreased heart rate, an emergency cs is needed.

Read the article. This isn't about judging people. These women are trying to coincide childbirths with astrology, not because of current or previous medical problems. Considering that a c-section is major surgery and can cause serious complications to mother and child, the reasons these women are seeking the procedure is a bit alarming.

Okay, so women there are getting c-sections. This has what to do with famous people? I guess the stars like not risking vaginal tearing?

Was that supposed to be funny or are you really that ignorant? In case its the latter, this is about women having c-sections because they want to give birth on a particular day for astrological reasons, you know aligned with the stars in the heavens.

32 seconds in...

If people honored their children, they wouldn't have themselves cut open prematurely. Stars shine light. Risking your babies to all sorts of risks is DUMB.

Maybe Americans are too stupid and everybody else on the planet does things better, faster... that's what we keep getting told by the corporate elite when they offshore jobs... (pity the results don't begin to match up those claims, but the reasons for that can be many...)

Judging from my recovery period with a c-section, I would advise all women to avoid this experience , if possible.

I was just happy to have a healthy child, who continues to be a joy in my life.
