Naked Pumpkin Run

Wall Street Journal:

For nearly a decade, naked pumpkin runners did their thing unmolested, stampeding through the frigid dark past crowds of admirers who hooted, hollered and tossed candy. But last year the run attracted more than 150 participants, and Police Chief Mark Beckner fears things are getting out of hand. "It's a free-for-all," he says.

"Police Chief Mark Beckner fears things are getting out of hand" Seems to me the Chief ought to be fearing whats in hand during this event.

Oh brother. Let's waste resources on a bunch of naked people not hurting anyone. With city budgets the way they are, I'd say this chief is shortsighted.

we are living in a police state. we are giving them our rights they are not being taken. voters must stand and demand more from the elected officials. they all work for us is the theory

Of all the stupid things for police to waste their time on. If there is one bashing, rape, home burglary, drunk driver killing a car load of someone's family, or murder , while they are ticketing nude pumpkin runners, I'd vote to have them thrown off the force....NO EXCEPTIONS.

Just advertise a couple blocks as this running event, if someone doesn't want to see it, go ELSEWHERE. I can't imagine in freezing temps runners are going to be out there naked for long.

Cops should not be inventing law.
Registering people as "sex offenders" who are merely involved in a mass prank is abuse of authority and cleary as UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT unconstitutional.
How sad that Boulder wants to waste money on cops gone wild.
Let's hope they're not using our hard-earned stimulus dollars to do it.

I imagine the ACLU would probably be interested in contesting their interpretation of sex offenders...

Really it's very simple.

If indeed the majority of Boulder citizens think the Pumpkin run should stay and that the police are being stupid, then

1. - recall the mayor and the police chief , fire the policemen and hire new officers. or

2. - make a law that states that the Pumpkin run is legal and no one can be arrested for participating in it.

Victimless crime. Leave the runners alone, you Nazis! When did streakers become sex offenders instead of pranksters?

I can't imagine why a person with a pumpkin on his/her head would arouse a cop.
