Epic Forklift Crash In Moscow Ruins Estimated $150,000 Of Vodka, Cognac (VIDEO)

First Posted: 3/18/10 Updated: 5/25/11

A fork lift driver in Moscow was sampling too much of his own product when he drunkenly plowed his vehicle into the stock shelves of vodka and cognac in the storeroom where he worked. The result was a spectacular crash in which $150,000 worth of liquor rained down around him. Amazingly, he escaped with nothing but a leg injury. We doubt he can say the same for his job.

So this is where one of Bush's appointees went.

This guy is in a lot of trouble, the Russians are serious about their vodka!

After the driver gets fired, he can join Bush as a motivational speaker.

The driver did them a favor by exposing their inadequate shelving system. No way that little bump should have taken down so many shelves.
09:01 AM on 11/03/2009
I totally agree. The driver was a bonehead, but if the shelves were anywhere near stable, the whole warehouse would not have come down, as happened in the clip. At worst, a few boxes, maybe a pallet or two, but the whole damn warehouse? Shoddy construction all the way.

Exactly! This was fun to watch (since I knew no one was seriously hurt), but a small/moderate bump never should have triggered all that!

kind of fun to watch, Russia is a developing country so I guess this may be what they meant by the path to democracy being bumpy?

the shelving was shoddy and led to most of the damage, probably due to lack of gov't regulation. The bennies of an unregulated market; dangerous work place, drunk coworkers, and the loss of profits.

All those boxes crashing down and only $150000 in lost inventory? The stuff must have been swill....
