Kate Hudson Talks 20-Pound Weight Loss

First Posted: 3/18/10 Updated: 5/25/11

Kate Hudson

Kate Hudson covers December's UK Elle (on newsstands Wednesday) and inside talks about losing 20 pounds to play a terminally ill woman who falls in love with her doctor (Gael Garcia Bernal) in the upcoming movie 'Earthbound.' Here are some highlights from the interview:

On her current weight:

"I'm pretty solid, actually. I'm not, like, 110lbs. But I'm probably heading towards that."

On the trials of eliminating liquid calories:

"I love my glass of wine. I love tequila. To be in New York for two weeks and not have one beverage! I'm not sure I've ever done that."

On the greatness of Botox:

"I was in a press conference once, and someone says, 'So, I can tell you've never had Botox!' Is that a compliment? Or are you trying to say I'm starting to get wrinkles? I literally was like, 'What?' Everyone's so obsessed with who gets Botox, but it's great! Are you kidding? The fact that women can avoid going under the knife, and get a little Botox treat and not have to worry about it? I'm glad it's there for when it's time."

On the simplicity of men:

"I love boys... but I believe they're really simple. Every guy likes to say that they're complicated, but they're so easy to figure out. What did that Dr Laura say? Something like, 'All men want is sex and for you to make them a sandwich.' I thought that was really funny - and not entirely untrue."

'All men want is sex and for you to make them a sandwich.'

Anybody seen a sandwich around here? I'm hungry.

All right, go ahead and ignore the rules of parallelism as if they didn't even exist.

Yes Kate, we males are pretty basic creatures and happy to be that way. There is nothing wrong with simple (and I don't mean simple minded).

As always, you look great and love your attitude towards life. At least as I understand your attitude.

I would add that we also want uninterrupted access to ESPN , video games, and no nagging.. but two out of five is not bad. LOL

One more.. no talking during the movie. Unless of course you want sex. Then and only then is a pause acceptable. LOL So the list actually should just be sex, sandwich, no nagging and silence but not necessarily in that order. LOL LOL Fyi I am so being facetious.

Dr. Laura is loaded with simplistic assumptions.

I never have understood people that write or say hateful things about a person that they do not know. To base an opinion of someone on what some gossip magazine says is absurd to me - I just do not understand it. None of you really know what she does or does not do and who she has or has not slept with. Just because you are seen with someone does not mean you are sleeping with them. She is an attractive woman and I have enjoyed several of her movies. The rest is none of my business and gossip is just hearsay - that is all it is and it does not make it fact.

On a more serious note, I would definitely concur with that statement. Hollywood is an alternate world where reality and fallacy co-exist equally. This does not just extend within the boundaries of Hollywood but also in the sports world, which is basically another form of entertainment. It just makes me laugh when I hear people say, "So and so is a jerk" or "I don't like that person because they said this or that". The real issue is with the consumer of all this tabloid gibberish and the fact that they are consumed with it to the point where they actually believe what they actually read??!! The reality is so far opposite of the fallacy that is being put out there, and most of these statements/articles are but an extension of the "world of entertainment". One thing about the spotlight is it is fleeting, and in order to keep one's self relevant in that world I feel as though it is important to create fabrications of truth to keep people talking and in the limelight lest that curtain draws to close.

Do you want to talk pathetic effed-up personal life where you desperately absolutely NEED a man -- any man! -- in your life in order to be happy? Picking useless generic RomCom roles for yourself? You're wearing thin, K-Hud. Just go away.

She's a young beautiful woman, the child of privilege and fame, and has enough talent to keep her working. Why would we expect Kate Hudson to be of brilliant thought, too?

Two reasons Kate Hudson is not a good person: 1. She didn't invite her own dad to her wedding 2. She listens to Dr. Laura.

Kate Hudson's father and mother divorced when she was 18 months old. Bill Hudson was not part of her life, so how is not inviting him to her wedding not "good"? Because she hasn't forgiven him for not being there for her? He was the adult who wasn't there for HER. Kurt Russell raised her, and she considers him her "real" dad. I believe Russell gave Kate Hudson away at her wedding, and her son's middle name is Russell to honor her stepfather. Not sure why she feels the need to listen to Dr. Laura, though.
