Why is this being built in Utah? Aren't there other areas of the country, i.e., Michigan, that could use the jobs more than Utah? Besides, Sen. Hatch hasn't been that much of an Obama supporter. Or is it that the government is like the casinos in Las Vegas and will only trust Mormans to run their Internet listening post?
I wonder what they will call it? Maybe "Op Center"? Would the government have to pay royalties to Tom Clancy in that case?
They covered this in the article, the site "was chosen for its access to cheap power, communications infrastructure, and availability of space, Gaffney said. The complex will comprise up to 1.5 million square feet of building space on 120 to 200 acres" Its also an existing National Guard site so they don't have to purchase the land and there is probably a lot of existing infrastructure they can use. Also, you typically don't want to put these kinds of sites in locations that have extreme weather, the winters in Michigan might be an issue.
Bah ha ha . . . It's built in Utah because there's nothing but a technical and cultural wasteland for hundreds of miles around it. Think of it as a technoid army base or really perhaps more of a prison. Care to take a lie detector test anyone?
"more of a prison" WTF are you talking about? Its a data center. There are lots of computers and lots of nerds to keep them running.
