The Dallas Morning News:

Texas Republicans opposed the $787 billion stimulus package, but their districts are getting more than their fair share of emergency funds. Working my way through the detailed data this morning from Recovery.gov, a quick analysis shows that more than $8.6 billion has been awarded to entities in GOP districts. About $4.3 billion is going to Democratic districts. (The Texas delegation includes 20 Republicans and 12 Democrats)...

They just didn't recognize stimulus at first. Then they figured it out - IT"S THE OTHER WHITE MEAT". Once that happened, they knew what to do.

That's what happens when you actually work and don't sit around complaining.

Not surprising...

Texas is a red state. Red states get far more govt. $ returned to them than they pay in. The opposite is true for blue states. They pay far more in taxes than the govt. returns to them.

Take a few minutes and go this site and watch "Texas by the Numbers" to see how close the repubs are to loosing the state. The DNC is starting to help and the Democratic party wants to run against Perry and one of the main attacks will be sad situatopn of Cameron Todd Willingham's execution.

The DSCC is talking to the Sharp and White camps and has alledgedly expressed favoring White for the senate. That would free John Sharp up for the governor's race if he is interested. If you live in Texas and can, please donate. If you have time, please volunteer. We are poised to make great strides in the coming year.

Hopefully these Republicans had the good sense of Bobby Jindal and had big old checks made up with their names at the bottom then gave them away on TV. That way they can show their constituents how hard they're working for the people of Texas.

Also, I am not surprised that Texas Republicans are getting huge donations. There is lots of old and new aristocracy in Texas. The wealthiest in Texas have more money than we can imagine, and they are more than willing to give it to the Republicans who are going to continue to allow them to have unbelievable tax loopholes. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. It would not matter if they collected every penny from every rich person in Texas; the greed and the corruption is still blaringly evident in the Texas GOP, and the GOP in general. They have the money; that is a given. How about making these wealthy politicians tell us what they stand for; what their anwer is to health care; what their answer is to what their buddy W. did to destroy the economy long before Obama even won the Democratic nomination. Texas, like Georgia and the rest of the South, needs a good strong kick in the A-- for continuing to elect these CROOKS.

They had no trouble voting yes for the Bush Stimulus Package. They had no problem allowing the Bush stimulus money to be given to banks and Wall Street with no stipulations or regulations. Yet they oppose Obama's stimulus. Smells like politics to me. It is Texas people. It is Georgia. It is South Carolina. It is Alabama. It is Mississippi. It is Arkansas. It is Louisiana. It is the Confederacy. They have all seceeded once already...with the exception of Texas...but they are all Deep South states. This is the Republican Party. Old white men, bigots, racists, high percentages of poverty with some extremely wealthy individuals who profit from the corporate politics of the Republicans. I am from Georgia, and every citizen in these states who votes Republican has no one to blame but themselves. Just look at what they have REALLY done for the average citizen. You can elect to remain stupid or you can vote against these corrupt clowns who are only interested in helping the rich get richer. It is time for the South to recognize the truth and differentiate between those who lie to you to profit from you and those who have your best interest at heart. If not, you get what you vote for.

Americans are already tired of the Obama administration and the failed policies. How can I say failed policies after only one year? Easy, these are the same tired ideas that the left has had for the last 60 years.

I do not think I have to express how ridiculous your statements are. I am not surprised that you are against Obama and support the Republicans. Your screen name alone says quite enough.

The best thing to happen to the far to progressive GOP was to lose the election. Now they are being shown the door by the conservatives which is 40% of the population.

In the near future the GOP will either get back to the basics of fold as a party.

Conservatives 40%
Moderates 35%
Liberal 20%

Texas has earned itself a very poor reputation over these last several years, to the rest of America and to the world. It seems mighty strange that so many right wing radicals are consistently spawned from Texas - Tom Delay, Karl Rove, the Bush's, Rick Perry, and the list goes on.
It is a shame that our tax money goes to a state that has caused so much ruin to our nation.
The good people of Texas need to get their politicans under control, or be ejected from the union.
Let the right wingers start their own country in Texas, we will give it to them, and be rid of them.

Its been a while since I lived in Austin, so I don’t recognize most of the men in the photo, but the man on the left is Lloyd Doggett, a Democrat. Who incidently is one of the most fiscally conservative members of Congress.
He is so widely respected that even though his voting district has been gerrymandered by the Repugs at least twice, he keeps getting elected.

Smaller Gubment starts at home, Goopers.

Instead, all we see is that there isn't a single dollar of government money the "fiscal conservatives" won't fall all over themselves trying to get at.

We should be able to go into ANY Red State, audit how much money they receive in Federal funding... and find nothing. Absolutely zero. Because, as conservatives keep telling everyone, they don't need Big Gubment. So, why won't they walk the walk?

You mean the voters are registering approval of the Texas politicians who opposed the stimulus?

You aren't really surprised at that, are you?
