Creepy Comedians: 10 Funny Men Who've Played Bad Guys On "Law & Order" (VIDEO)

"Law & Order" has been on a comedian kick of late featuring Michael Showalter, Jim Gaffigan and Rob Corddry as antagonists in this, their 20th season. With all this inspiration we took a look back at those that came before so you could judge the creepiest of them all.

Of course, there have been others who are not on our list: Janeane Garofalo played a movie exec early on in the series, A.D. Miles (Fallon's head writer) played a tech nerd on "Criminal Intent," etc. But we were looking for the comics who played bad guys and played them so well that we got chills. Who made you want to sleep with the lights on?

Jim Gaffigan

This season the stand-up comic played a (more) twisted version of Jon Gosselin--one who likely killed his wife in order to secure a reality TV show deal for his family.

they also forgot Bob Saget (Full House) who played a real mechanical nerd who finds out that his wife is cheating on him with a friend so he turns and poisons his friend's wife to get back at him.

they also forgot whoopi goldberg who did a really chilling character on Criminal Intent. she played a woman who took care of teenage foster kids to teach them how to steal from the rich people by any means necessary, including murder.

Stephen Colbert gives a surprisingly good dramatic performance in the episode, The Saint. The man is multifaceted and multi-talented. Should he decide to do drama, he could easily have a shelf full of Oscars, to go along with his Emmys. Bravo, Stephen!

Comedians play much creepier murderers on the series "Criminal Minds". Case in point: Jamie Kennedy as a cannibalistic sadist and Jason Alexander as a genius sociopath.

colberts episode was outstanding. larry miller was the creepiest killer. jim gaffigan has also done a law and order criminal intent where he ran a crematorium and was the pawn of the real killer.

mark linn-baker has done both law and order and criminal intent. joe piscapo has also done law and order.

My two favorites, although not necessarily comedians, are:

1. Henry Winkler ("Fonzie" in a former life) - I think it was SVU where he turns out to have bilked a rich woman out of her money, and....

2. Andrew McCarthy (80s teen film star) in SVU. Episode was "Slaves" where he's a total sexual deviant.

henry winkly did a great job in that role. you could tell that he still had the fonz in him, the way he was able to deliver the lines where his character sweet talks the women into believing him. that in itself made his character creepy.

i agree that andrw mcarthy did an excellent job with his character.

Larry Miller is #1 on my version of this list. Micheal Dobson is such a creepy and malignant SOB and Miller worked it hard.

The only time I ever watched/surfed into Law & Order, it was when Chevy Chase was on...I almost did not recognize him!
Yikes! He gave me a scare.......................

Jim Gaffigan also guest starred twice on Criminal Intent: the 2002 episode "Dead" and the 2007 episode "Smile."

Will Arnett guest starred in the 2002 SVU episode, "Angels."

Wow..can't believe they omitted Carol Burnett who has done at least one SVU I think. I remember being blown away by her first attempt at drama in the TV movie, "Friendly Fire" about a woman trying to find out about the death of her son in Viet Nam. She said at that time that comedy is much harder to do than drama. Although I can't stand her, I would love to see Kathy Griffin as a high school teacher involved with an underage student on SVU and Joan Rivers as a society woman accused of murdering her plastic surgeon for a botched job on CI........LOL.

Burnett was in a couple.
Last one was with Matthew Lillard
(Shaggy from Scooby Doo movies).

She was creepy - cold and he was
very good.

Bizarrely, the photo they used for Larry Miller isn't from either of his 1994 or 1996 appearances as two-time wife-killer Michael Dobson. Rather, it's from a 2003 cameo appearance he made on the show playing himself. ("Smoke," the 24th and final episode of season 13.)
You can tell because Jesse L. Martin, who's in the photo, didn't join the show until 1999.

They omitted Jerry Lewis, who played Munch's psychotic homeless uncle. He was terrific.

You missed my favorite.
Season 2 Episode 3 of the original Law and Order had an adult film director played by Lewis Black.
