Scary that the doors malfunctioned but consider this: Who in there right mind would jam there baby and stroller into the train when the "Doors closing" announcement came over the speakers? It reminds me of the people on Michigan Ave. who push their strollers into an intersection on a do not walk sign and then look surprised/offended when cars turn towards them on a green arrow. You would think that parents would be extra careful, not careless.

glad to hear the baby is ok. the kid wont remember the mom will never forget. it can happen to anyone. accidents are called accidents for a reason. these was just that story in england? where the stroller fell in front of the train and the baby was fine. 2 in a week is 2 too many

This is why we need an actual conductor in the middle traincar watching out for things like this to manually control the doors and signal the engineer when it is safe to proceed. But of course we need to save money and that is more important than the safety of the commuters.

What surprises me is the amount of people who state that the operator should have been able to see this. I used to live off the morse stop and I can tell you 1) the redline trains are among the longest. 2) if she was running for the train it was most likely the last car and is very hard to see all the way down the narrow platform. There must have been an error with the sensors since usually they will pop back open. Infact it becomes a problem when one person decides to hold the last door open for everyone who is running up the stairs to get on.

I am surprise the train doors do not have any safety mechanisms for such occasions. Maybe they will consider installing them now.

The doors actually do have sensors all along the length of the doors, that when pushed against, are supposed to make the doors open again. Something must have gone wrong with the sensors on these doors for the baby carriage to have gotten stuck in them like that. Normally, with just a bit of pressure against the inside edges of the doors, they open up again.
