What's Your Reaction?
Maureen Dowd Rush Limbaugh

New York Times:

At our long-ago dinner, Limbaugh credited his success with being "one-dimensional." "I'm totally concerned with me," he said. And that was way before he got a contract for $400 million, so we can only imagine how one-dimensional he is now.

But on Sunday, he ripped the president for having "an out-of-this-world ego," for being "very narcissistic," "immature, inexperienced, in over his head." (Isn't immaturity scoring OxyContin from your maid?)

It gives new meaning to pot, kettle and black.

Media historians will never run out of material when writing about America's favorite racist.

Not so slowly but certainly surely, Limbaugh is being pushed aside as the opinion leader of the far right by Glen Beck. In my opinion, Limbaugh's pro footbal team bid was largely a stunt in order to gain media attention in response to Beck's rise. I fully expect him to come up with more such stunts and even more extreme rhetoric in trying to stay on top.

Says the sad, bitter, male chauvinist in the room, in a pique that a real journalist like Ms. Dowd has stated clearly and plainly that your chosen emperor Limbaugh the Hutt *still* has no clothes.

God pity you.

What a bore - two over inflated commentators going at it, when in the end they're identical ideologues.

No, they are not. Ms. Dowd presents a clear, concise argument grounded in empirical facts and first-hand observation.

Limbaugh the Hutt appeals to ignorance, and is the epitome of vanity and nihilistic pathos.

God pity him, and his cultists.

Maureen, who can be over the top at times perfectly describes Rush as a lonely manchild concerned only with himself.

O'Dowd "purposefully" made sure this column on Rush was more lukewarm because she wanted to point out more so that he is, regardless of his pontificating.

That didn't seem like "ripping" him as much as simply "describing" him. Maureen has done much worse.

I think Rush's (and the Republican Party's) biggest problem with President Obama is: they haven't been able to figure out what makes him tick; so they haven't been able to break him.

Despite the daily criticisms, ranging from leadership and personal style differences, to unmerited criticisms and blame, to insincerity about the nature of the scores of complicated, unwieldy, critical issues and challenges our country and this President faces (and impatience that he hasn't been able to clean up and rebuild overnight, what the previous President took years to deconstruct); Rush and company seemed to be interminably perturbed at their inability to break this man into behaving like a boy. And that alone makes SOME madder than others.

Rush and his GOP have tried every tactic they've ever used against their opponents (who they consider and call "the enemy" by the way, and don't even consider as "fellow Americans" with different opinions and viewpoints). They've even doubled down on some. Yet this beautiful human being remains civil, unbowed, principled, methodical, and for the most part uninterested in entertaining their juvenile tendency to complain rather than to work toward the betterment of this country and ALL of her people.

I'm proud to call President Obama my President, and with him at the helm, I'm proud to call myself an American. With the the likes of Limbaugh nipping at the ankles -- not so much.

Any psychiatrist with at least a scintilla of something resembling a brain stem and a copy of the Manual of Mental Disorders at one's could easily diagnose Rush Limbaugh as having a narcisstic personality disorder.

What a pair. It would be funny if they didn't have legions of cult followers.

I was taught that one of the indications of maturity is taking responsibility for your actions. Did it ever cross Rush's mind that if the GOP had been doing their jobs on Wall Street in the areas of oversight and regulation, the bail out would not have been necessary? If Obama is deliberately destroying the economy, exactly what would Rush have done if he was responsible for fixing the mess Obama inherited? I keep hearing that Obama is wrong, but I have yet to hear what they would consider the right way to handle it. Tax cuts for the rich don't count as a solution because tax cuts for the rich are partly what caused the problem.

Reagan and "trickle down" economics didn't work and Bush/Cheney with deregulation didn't work.

Once the wealthy discovered they were handed a license to steal they did. They ran with the money and knew the Republican policies protected them as a favored class.

They received tax breaks, no penalty for outsourcing jobs overseas, no laws to require reinvestment in America for the tax breaks they got, they cried about their labor costs and are constantly threatening to eliminate more jobs so they can make higher profits, they sold off American assets, indulged in greedy Wall Street transactions that were deregulated with no oversight and the Republicans claimed "no problem" the market takes care of itself.

It took care of itself alright, it COLLAPSED.

Where was Rush and the teabag crowd when all of this was going on? Did they protest Bush?? Did they protest the Republican policies that created it? No.

Rush and the right wing trash the so-called "liberal media" and have blamed that for years and years; in spite of Fox having higher ratings and right wing media according to them has more listeners, readers, viewers, etc.

Based on that; the real problem is the right wing media and Fox since they supported all of this mess from the beginning with no voice to try to stop these bad policies.
