Reader's Digest Closes Rick Warren Magazine

Reader's Digest has ended its partnership with Rick Warren, the New York Post's Keith Kelly reported Wednesday.

The multimedia partnership — which included a quarterly magazine, The Purpose Driven Connection — launched in February, but "will cease publication after the Christmas issue due out in mid-November, Kelly writes. The title will be turned over to Warren's company, he added.

Folio's Jason Fell reports that the title will go online-only.

The New York Times' Richard Perez-Pena reports that "The partners said the Purpose Driven Connection drew plenty of fans to its Web site - they declined to provide any numbers - but too few who were willing to pay."

Reader's Digest filed for bankruptcy over the summer.

In June, the New York Times reported that Reader's Digest was moving in "a decidedly conservative direction," a point the magazine denied.

He's just some guy who makes good use of the Bible and the Jesus name and makes himself rich and famous, fooling the sheeple. He's a very good businessman, a salesman, a very good schemer..
