Sarah Palin Lines Up An Impressive Array Of Cupcake Media Appearances

Via Andrew Sullivan, I see that Sarah Palin will be doing a substantial amount of globetrotting, and much like the ones in Harlem, has scheduled matches against all of the Washington Generals:

We're in the process of arranging interviews with local and national media. An interview with Oprah Winfrey is already scheduled, and I'm also hoping to have the opportunity to talk with Bill O'Reilly, Barbara Walters, Sean Hannity, Greta Van Susteren, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, Laura Ingraham, Dennis Miller, Tammy Bruce, and others, including local Alaska personalities Bob & Mark and Eddie Burke. (Variety is the spice of life!)

Hmmmph. This sort of spicy variety doesn't exactly pave the way for too many culinary options. When the most furtive questioners you've lined up are Oprah Winfrey and Barbara Walters, you can't exactly lay claim to boldness. But look, this is hardly surprising. Let's recall that Palin views the role of the point guard as someone who passes the ball and grabs a seat on the bench.

Palin's taken precisely one gamble, post-election, and that was to throw her might behind New York 23rd District loser Doug Hoffman. Going into 2010, my expectation is that Palin will continue to identify races in which the GOP candidate is projected to win in a blowout, force robocalls on the unwilling candidate, and give herself a hefty pat on the back, all while eschewing anyone in the media who might cast a baleful eye on her political acumen. Still a Sunday morning no-show, I remind you! And that's pathetic.

Fuzzy Math Behind Palin Book

Sarah Palin must be praying that her Monday appearance on Oprah will lead to a slot on the talk show maven's book list. In spite of a rumored 400,000-plus first print run for Palin’s memoir, Going Rogue: An American Life, which comes out Tuesday, November 17, the Daily Finance crunches a slew of numbers to reveal that HarperCollins might not want to bank on the book. Palin made the book deal last May, has received a $1.25 million retainer, and is expected to receive up to a $7 million advance, by the time Going Rogue arrives next week. Factoring in actual versus projected print runs for paperback and hardcover copies, Amazon—Wal­-Mart—Targ­et discount sales, ghostwriting fees, and the potential total payment to Palin, the Daily Finance claims that HarperCollins will need to sell more than 400,000 copies of the book just to break even—and that’s only if Palin’s total advance was a measly $5 million.

I just went over to a McKinnon piece from last July where he wondered why all of us on the Left had this 'abject hatred' for "Lady Fluke". I pondered some because I remembered when this charge was first being cast.

He was wrong then and he is wrong now. 'Abject hatred' is NOT what is driving today's revulsion of anything that Sarah Palin does. It is more a blanket dismay that all of us on the Left are completely justified in feeling for ANY and ALL Republicans who supported 'Lady Fluke', but mostly for the Republican Leadership that first Proposed her. It is much more general than specific. Lady Fluke hadn't much to do with being Proposed as John McCain's running mate; it was someone else, some 'others', and those are the people the Left is so mad at, and should be.

To think of the direction our whole Country could've gone in were she ever in a position of real power is simply unconscionable! And to think just how close we came is sickening. And it was not her cosmetics, or hilariously dysfunctional family. It was simply the fact that Lady Fluke was, and is, an abject DIM-WIT!

Listen dahlings, i adore Sarah Palin, isn't she pretty. And I am so envious of all that money and staff and media attention. It is really better than being Miss America, she is Miss World. And to be able to travel around the planet and have someone else take care of the children, what a blessing. And look at that studly husband! Oh my southern nerves! Sarah Palin has everything any red blooded American woman wants and needs; a home, a husband, children, fame, fortune, admiration of anonymous millions, and a gun.

This woman cannot construct one simple sentence meaningfully. All she is famous for is in engaging in meaningless rantings! To claim that she wrote a book is something beyond belief.

We can understand why she wants to be on the Oprah Winfrey show. What better way to get maximum exposure to a women audience than to be a guest on that show. One can only hope her interview with Barbara Walters will not be a case of deja vu vis-a-vis Katie Curic!

There is nothing much to shout about the other array of appearances she has arranged with, mostly with Fox News goons. Perhaps, she will get all the helping hand she can hope for with spoon-fed questions! She will be very much at home with this crowd!
