Ed & Deb you are promising too much from this technique...

Yes, by regulating your breathing you can avoid causing an excessive alkalemia, but this CERTAINLY shouldn't be relied on as your only course of action against an asthma attack.


This breathing technique will not "relax your airways" because an asthma exacerbation is an immune response of sorts, causing inflammation bronchoconstriction and excess mucous production.... Which needs to be treated with a bronchodilator or steroids. Period.

I've done it (Buteyko method) and I can swear by it.
It works for my allergies every time.

Breathing or brathe control or better yet

prana - life force .. yama - control

in Yoga is called pranayama

when you learn how to regulate the breath .. work with your ;ife force you have amazing healing potential

in this article in the Times - it is said that the doctor devloped this technique ... well it is actually an ancient method.

when you learn more about pranayama it is benefical but works with many illnesses .. blood pressure and even anti - aging

when you make friends with your breath you can calm your mind .. release stress which is the cause of much illnesses.
