What's Your Reaction?

The dancing inmates are back, this time with a tribute to Queen. Yes, the Filipino prisoners who are taught dance routines in order to improve their health and general well-being did several MJ tributes this year, but have now moved on. Granted, there's a little Styx in the mix, but besides that they did an excellent job of shuffling together the best of Queen and pulling off a dance interpretation worthy of rock royalty.

Every time I see one of these videos I want to know about their lives in the prison. They seem to enjoy what they are doing and it's clearly part of their cultural goal to rehabilitate people back into society. Do they compete for places on the dance team? Are they excited to participate? How does it affect them as individuals and looking to their future outside?

Question for you people please.....

1) Why is it that 99.9% of the prison population in America are poor folks?

2) Why is that crimnals that were suits (bankers, politicians and the rest) rarely go to prison for their crimes?

Shucking and jiving is much preferable to shanking and dying.

The Arts can help breathe new life into our humanity. It cannot be stated enough especially since we are taking the arts out of public education; pre-teens shoot twelve year olds over Nikes; and kids are plugged into de-personalizing electronic devices all day.

It's fantastic. We had a documentary in Australia about this jail. They shifted from a old very violent jail, to a new jail with a picnic atmosphere on visiting day. At that stage their had been zero assaults. Send this page to your local parliamentarian/congressman.

I think I just solved the health care cost crisis! Take the millions about to get expensive gastric bypass surgery and and the millions who need expensive anti-cholesterol drugs every day for life and ship them to this joint for a few months. Lose weight, no surgery or drug side-effects and learn to dance too!

An amazing job and a truly good idea, build teamwork and ease tensions. But, I really have to wonder: why would they choose american music? WHy songs with words in another language?

Cultural diffusion at its zenith here.

English is spoken everywhere in the Philippines. It is one of two official languages of the Philippines (the other being "Filipino," which is a version of Tagalog). It is commonly used in government, education, the media, and business. It is not considered a foreign language.

the Filipinos consider themselves bi-lingual. they grow up with both Filipino and English as the primary language used. aside from that, they also have dialects spoken depending on the province that you are from. the older generation (people aged 55 and above) also had Spanish as a spoken language. if you visit the country, you will be surprised to see the ease in which they converse in both languages and the seamless blending of eastern and western cultures.

Those 3 "hot chick's weren't chicks .. anyway I wish we had prisoners as social and creative as these men were and continue to be ,these men are nor only entertaining us but themselves as well which helps them bond as humans unlike the penal system here which only breeds hate and violence .give our inmates who are willing to participate in social interaction as these inmates are obviously privy to and I bet there will less repeat offenders and less prison violence .yes I believe there are some that have no remorse for their crimes but not all ,instead of punishing by isolation give them a reason to be better whether they will be integrated back into society or will be forever behind bars, cage a wild animal with no contact and what you will wind up with is a killer, show them that they will be rewarded with good behavior and they will show respect and and be humbled and want to please those that showed them kindness I think these inmates are very talented and have learned that no matter who you are or what you have done they can and do get along and have a sense of pride for themselves and their fellow inmates,in fact we all worldwide can learn from them ,we are all human we all have to live on this big planet together forever .
