"Fox News Sunday" Ratings: Rush Limbaugh Gives Chris Wallace Big Boost

Rush Limbaugh's 30-minute screed against President Obama on "Fox News Sunday" delivered host Chris Wallace a huge ratings boost.

On FOX broadcast, the show averaged 1.542 million total viewers (up 41.7% over the previous week), and 601,000 viewers in the Adults 25-54 demographic. In its FOX News repeats (2PM and 6PM), the show drew even more, picking up an additional 2.350 million total viewers and 579,000 A25-54 viewers. Combined, those 3.892 million total viewers represent Chris Wallace's biggest combined audience of 2009.

NBC's "Meet the Press" won the week with 3.145 million total viewers. ABC's "This Week" averaged 2.745 million total viewers for second place, while CBS' "Face the Nation" averaged 2.516 million total viewers for third place.

Well, that is certainly a depressing headline on a lot of levels. Limbaugh....yick, Chris Wallace, also yick, people tuning in to see Limbaugh in person....­astonishin­g. I can't stand the sound of his voice. Looking at him would be beyond my endurance. Well, to each his own, I guess.

Fox should be only allowed by the FAA for airing.. with FDA-like precautions that accompany all toxic substances that can be consumable by the public. So the new standard for ratings is to run your show three times and the sum of all the repeats counts toward your "ratings lead."

Further examination of the ratings reveals that most of the 'extra' viewers didn't want to miss the spectacle of Wallace conducting the interview while curled up on Limbaugh's lap.

Some people are saying that folks who watch Fox are less intelligent than those who watch MSNBC. It's being said that Rush's ratings are inflated because the show is free to syndicators. Some believe that Mike Wallace is horrified by his son. Hey, this is EASY!
