Oprah Lisa

Los Angeles Times:

The highly anticipated but delayed cable channel OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network will soon have a new chief creative officer -- Lisa Erspamer. But unlike those who have gone before her, this executive has something that others at OWN have lacked: experience working with Winfrey....

The move appears to signal that Winfrey might be close to announcing an official end date for her syndicated talk show that runs on ABC. Winfrey is under contract to produce the show through May 2011, which will be at the completion of her 25th season. She has not said whether she will extend her run beyond that.

Looking forward to the new OWN network. Best wishes to Oprah and her associates.

Sounds like a good move... I love Oprah, however I've not watched her daytime television show in over 15 years.

I do listen to Oprah XM Radio....OPRAH RADIO IS FANTASTIC.

Media is changing rapidly...How and where people consume their favorite media is also very fluid, right now. The Oprah show's dip in daytime tv ratings is not a reflection on lost popularity...It's more of a sign of an audience too much on the go to sit at home and watch an afternoon tv show.

Oprah's ratings are actually up 39% this season:

But you're right in general. Syndicated talk shows & broacast TV in general has seen massive declines over the last several years as cable shows & the internt continue to grow.

As RAY ROMANO would say: Leave while they keep asking for more or while the ratings are high....Good show, Oprah. But, I think you have done it all on your show...there comes a time when the curtain comes down...for all of us.

Thus far, she's had some really great topics this season. Much better than last Spring.

Eventually I'd like to see Oprah do special interviews like Barb Walters.

Imagine Oprah six months after she retires. She probably could be an offensive lineman for Da Bears.

That's good news. Now I wish she and Gail would just fade away into the sunset!
