Guy-Fawkers: The Next Accidentally Sexual GOP Catchphrase? (VIDEO)

First there was teabagging, then there was 2M4M, now there's guy-fawking. Someone has latent sexual desires and Stephen Colbert is completely elated by it.

Last night Colbert proclaimed Michele Bachmann's anti-health-care-reform protest on November 5th to be "Guy-Fawking" because it took place on Guy-Fawkes Day. "Today we're guy-fawking to stop health care reform, tomorrow we guy-fawke gay marriage," he proclaimed.

I'm saying that, from the blob on the right, I hear a lot of platitudes and a lot of symbols that trigger visceral reactions without rational substance.

Say "We're losing our freedoms" and you'll get an automatic response of "Yeah, they're stealing our freedoms." Ask what freedoms they're losing and, I think, they won't know what they're talking about.

Say "Freedom, Liberty, the Constitution and Thomas Jefferson" and a whole crowd will be passionately on your side. Everyone knows what you're talking about, but no one really does - it's only emotion.

Or talk of the flag, or being proud to be an American, or how great our great country is, and tears will well up in their eyes, and they'll follow you anywhere. Symbols to fight and die for, without thinking.

Fox News is like the Voice of America. The Foxophiles buy that without asking whether the correlation has any validity whatsoever.

I'm talking about emotion, especially fear, above rationality, and the disinterest of so many in using their own brains.

There's plenty of knee-jerk thinking on the left, but I see the blob on the right as frighteningly deliberately stupid.
