Iran is trying to obtain the same strategic capabilities that the US and Israel have been menacing it with for decades. This is called deterrence, and it worked for the US and the Soviet Union and it works for India and Pakistan. The refusal of the United States to acknowledge the legitimate security needs of Iran, while at the same time feigning ignorance about Israeli nuclear capabilities makes rational debate impossible. Until Israel is held to the same level of accountability that is expected of Iran, there can be no progress on this issue.
Simplypeyton, that was very well said. Until that time we accept Iran as a nuclear power, there is going to continue to be atmosphere of mistrust in the region.
Thank you.
Just talking about war leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I forgot who said " Only the dead, knows the end of war" I can't recall now, I know it will come to me later. Iran is playing for time, Israel patient is running thin, they have already drew a line in the sand, now it is up to the United States to get us out of this ..........
It isn't a "secret report" if the public know about it, is it?
Yes, the two- point implosion is very old technology that in public domain, so how is that such a shocker or breaking news. .........i
Iran has said over and over again they are enriching uranium for medical purposes. But here they are testing how to build a nuclear war head. So, once again they are lying.
If we ignore this, it is at our own peril. A nuclear armed Iran, would no-doubt start a nuclear arms race between Iran the Sunni Arab Kingdoms in the Gulf. A nuclear confrontation between two of those countries would disrupt the world's oil supply, causing a world-wide economic crisis the likes we've never seen before.
Of course we know that Iran is lying, and they are playing for time, we're busy looking at our watch, and they are looking at the calendar. And yes it would be a great danger to the world if Iran would become a nuclear power in that region, the Middle East. We're caught in a catch-22, you're dam if you do, and you're dam if you don't ? then you have to say to yourself what would be more acceptable lost......
The latest Mossad report states that Iran has 5000 nuclear tipped missiles aimed at Israel and demands that President Obama does something about it.
I doubt that very seriously that Iran has 5000 missiles in all Iran, but I do believe that they do have two, or three
nuclear weapons at the most. Dr. Khan supplied them the instruction on how to build a nuclear bomb.
neocongal
Just like the Mossad report on non-existent WMD in Iraq demanding that Shrub do something about it?
How about a UN report on Israel being the greatest threat to World Peace with 300-400 thermonuclear bombs demanding that Obama do something about it?
Did the Mossad report state how many nuclear weapons Israel had? I didn't think so.
The balances of power appear to be shifting in the Middle East. What the final out come would be ....is uncertain, Israel since then has drawn a line in the sand, but the cool winds of the West are blowing sand in everyone eyes,.... blinding them to the real truth, seeing only whatever, they want to see.
Any article quoting David Albright , "the nuclear expert who never was", is questionable.

I have always said that Iran already has the BOMB. If so, they have a right to it as long as other countries have stock piles if nuclear weapons and continue to develop more lethal ones. However, it is Ironic that this story came out today when thr fire-breeding Muslim haters are on the rampage to connect all Muslims to the Fort Hood tragedy. Now, it makes sense why the HP moderators censored my prediction that this sort of article will emerge to fan the anti-Iran, anti-Muslim propaganda. Pathetic!
This story, from the UK?
You're connecting a whole lot of dots willy-nilly there. I'd like to agree with some of your points, but tone it down a notch.
what...[IF ] Iran ....is just play -up the facts....s

I didn't hear Iran complain when the US tested whatever new and diabolical weapon it was that they just nailed the moon with. Water research my mule.
Give me enough money and enough time and enough resources I'll bet even I could come up with a nuclear weapon.
And after having visited the Atomic Bomb Museum in Albuquerque I am more than appalled at how small they actually are.
But there is no "secret' to nuclear weapons.
Only a major industrial enterprise in order to build them.
And implosion technology is quite old. 65 years old at least.
Whether this means anything or not remains to be seen.
But if Iran were developing a nuclear weapon, why would anyone think it was to used for anything but deterrence. Just like Israel's Nukes. Like America's Nukes, Russia's, India's Pakistan's etc, etc.
And after watching what happened next door in Iraq I would be building nukes ASAP if I were an Iranian leader.
There you go again acting as a subversion agent to the good ol' US of A.
Can't you be a bit more constructive?
I think if you look into the mirror you might see the real agent
I am very confused.
Am I an agent subverting the United States?
In which case they probably shouldn't have let me in the Atomic Bomb museum.
Or am I an American subverting Iran?
And being unconstructive?
I suppose passing on propaganda to support another needless war is your idea of constructive?
The heating and cooling business of H.P.
H.P had a choice:
a) "United Nations inspectors found "nothing to be worried about" in a first look at a previously secret uranium enrichment site in Iran last month, the International Atomic Energy chief said in remarks released Thursday. "
http://haa
or
b) Iran Tested bla bal - 'Secret Report' .... based on
"The document has been colloquially described as the "secret annexe". My understanding is that it was never meant to be an annexe but is rather an open computer file into which the IAEA's inspectors put all the material they gathered on alleged weaponisation.
It includes a hodge-podge of documentation that is single sourced and multiple sourced, reliable and questionable, solid and dodgy, and was not intended for publicatio

I think H.P. is in the heating business.
Some secret design - http://en.
Wiki has diagrams and formulas so you too can build your own WMD
Not So Secret Report : Is R aEL has over 200 atomic warheads
I wouldn't doubt it but it still sounds like overkill. I wonder what a thousand
nukes would leave Israel and the surrounding neighborhood looking like?
What a catastrophe awaits us the next time one of those evil things are
used.
Key word "estimate'
Does it really make a difference?
Israel doesn't have large populations calling for the death of America and Western values. To compare the risk of Israel having the bomb to Iran or one of the other radical Muslim nations (Syria, Lebanon) having it are not even comparable and it is embarrassing to do so.
GOOD!
Recently, I heard General Zinni on a program broadcast on local NPR station joked that for last 20 years he has getting secret information that Iran is 3-5 years away from a nuclear bomb. These report are coming out with the agenda of using our hard-earned tax money to get into wars that profits a few and helps one country. We are going bankrupt and no one seems to care.
