What's Your Reaction?

A (fake) former president and first lady promoted health care reform in a new ad from Health Care for America Now.

Martin Sheen and Stockard Channing, known for playing The West Wing's President Jed Barlett and First Lady Abbey Barlett, tell viewers, "Now we can finally fix health care once and for all."

They also echo President Obama's message that if "you like your insurance, you can keep it."

The stars ask voters to call their congressmen to urge them to support health care reform: "You can make it happen. Take action today."

The Hill points out that President Bartlett supported a kind of single-payer health care system but gave up on it when he came to office.

We're not experts, but we play one on TV.....

I did.
But before I clicked on this article.

Unfortunately my normally progressive Congressman said he was voting against it because it did not bend the cost curve. I knew that, I agree with his analysis. But we need to get this legislation in, then it can be improved. That is what I told his office.

I don't need Hollywood libiots telling me how to vote. I actually have the capacity to make up my own mind. I, too, enjoyed the show even though it was about a Dim administration. I miss it, but if it was still on it would be rife with current political commentary. Ummm, no thanks.

I'm confused. When in the 30-second ad did they tell you how to vote? Did they use gutter language like you did ("libiots,")? Even if you disagree with their point of view, you might want to go study those West Wing episodes again to learn something about grace and civil dialogue.

Wow. What I hear you really saying is you can't stand hearing opinions that don't agree with yours. Kinda like holy water on a vampire.

If you really were secure in making up your own mind you wouldn't be freaked out by an opinion ad by a bunch of Hollywood "libiots".

What I saw was a couple of American citizens offering their honest opinion for me to consider. If the Insurance companies can hire actors to argue against health care reform then surely a couple of other actors can offer a different opinion.

Yes.
Obviously, Faux Noose tells you how to vote.

It's a TV commercial for crying out loud. Do you go out and buy everything that's advertised on TV? If you don't agree, turn the channel.

lol The link goes to Dave Camp, one of those who are in the pockets of the insurance industry. The only people who will lose with this bill are the insurance industry and the Dems who vote against it, well and all cons.

But itsy, check out the con bill THAT is a loser

I got halfway through the third season online and I couldn't access the rest...I didn't even get to watch all the episodes, and I already miss all of them...

It's hard to point out a favorite character on that show, seeing as it just wouldn't be the same without any of them.

But you forgot Leo!

Thank God that the "Tomorrow" President Batlett was thinking about (the last line in the series) has come. This actor who for six years personified the President I wished we really had was the relief valve for the potboiler of the Bush/Cheney oligarchy. My heart swelled and my soul welled when he spoke... Honest Authority spoke.

I loved that series. There was documented and important geopolitical or domestic issues truth written into almost every episode. Unfortunately it was 'way over the heads of a huge segment of the consuming public.

I never watched this series when it was on in prime time. Then, one night I happened to tune in during a marathon showing.

I was hooked. I immediately understood why it took so many awards season after season.

My problem? I was watching the reruns into the wee hours and would end up fighting sleep at work.

Thankfully, the reruns came to an end and I could resume a normal sleep schedule.

I wonder if President Obama has a big block of cheese day.. I doubt it..

Shame Sorkin gave up pot or this show would still be around today, guiding the current administration.

Have Obama call Suze Orman and find out if the country can afford health care.

Do you think she would "approve" them? I think NOT.

Why don't you check into what Suze Orman advises people to do and then how she conducts her own finances. You will find she does the opposite of what she tells others to do. Suze Orman doesn't know anything about finances, but knows everything about selling her ideas...that's the secret to her millions.
