What's Your Reaction?

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was in Berlin on Monday for the 20th anniversary of the Berlin Wall's fall. But before the celebrations began, she held bilateral talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel--and fashion faux pas!--the two women dressed almost identically. Both sported short blond bobs, blue jackets, black pants, and black kitten heels.

Incredibly stupid article. A huge SO WHAT. Male leaders of state ALWAYS meet in "virtually identical outfits", i.e., jacket and tie. So who reports THAT?
Dumb, dumb, du-u-u-ummmmb.

Agreed they look almost like twins in the photo, and I think they are each very capable and well above the fashion fray, I have only one commentary on the article: No way are Merkel's shoes "kitten heels".

Pant suit twins! I hope that they become chummy, they seem like such cool ladies.

As much as the two women look and dress alike, there is one clear distinction: Merkel is a head of state, and Hillary is married to someone who as was and wishes.

I said it before in a comment, they must have the same tailor. Both ladies are so smart, and so boring in their selection of clothes. Mrs. Merkel's tailor has been using the same pattern for her pantsuits ever since she became chancellor. Mrs. Clinton at least ventures with colors and the occasional scarf.
They probably don't spend much time thinking about their outfits, but I wish they would pay someone who does.

It is good to see Hillary Clinton has been returned to the "meet and greet circuit "and in the "fashion" news, after her gaffe prone tour of the Middle East. Oh well, she tried.

Where was the gaffe? That Hillary was not prepared to take and "shut up about it" when a young academically-inclined hooligan in Congo had the dumb nerve to ask her

"What does your husband Bill Clinton think and what does the football player Mutambo think through *your* mouth"?!

Having spent her day visiting Congolese girls as young as 5 years old and women as old as 78 who had been gang raped by hooligans who traditionally used rape as a "weapon of mass destruction" and looking at these crippled, maimed traumatized souls, the last thing the Secretary of State wanted is to be subjected to a traditional Congolese woman-putdown. No, sweetie, that was no darn gaffe.

The response, far from being a 'gaffe', was firmly and appropriately communicated from our first Secretary who really "gets it" -- that it's girls and women in these undeveloped, war-torn countries that suffer most of the harm and it's these girls and women who should be made part and parcel of a foreign policy that looks to treating the cause and not the symptoms. Remember Barbarian-in-Chief Bush W.?
l remember Hillary's Healthcare in Ohio shouting loudly that Obama's plan left out 15 million, being a "giveaway to the Insurance companies".
Back then, according to you, she made another gaffe: She shouted
"Shame on you, Barack" for misrepresenting her views. Now, her words have come to haunt those "progressives" hoodwinked by Hope and Change

Enjoy the gaffeless Abortion Ban....

Do you read mainstream news reports, or just rely on the talking points?

Okay, if we are going to discuss style, these blue jackets are not even close in hue or tone!

Next they'll be critiqued for having "nearly identical" features: 2 eyes, 2 ears, one nose, one mouth... and oh yeah, hair on top of their heads... what freakish coincidence!!!

In the spectrum of humanity and fashion, and in this photo, they do look remarkably alike.

So is HP going to start posting pictures of male politicians who wear "almost identical" outfits? That would be any two politicians who wore a black suit, a gray suit, a navy-blue suit, etc.

What dowdy unattractive outfits. They do not please me in the least.

Angela is a world leader, but Hillary is marrried to one and works for another one.

I'll bet when the Lord carried His cross to his end on Earth, people like you overlooked the enormity of His action and said "Couldn't he have at least pressed that toga and bought new sandals for the occassion?"

Clinton was in the right spot at the right time, but where was our president?! This seemed like such the perfect Obama event to attend. I trust that means he's busy changing the world!

He has a Memorial Service to attend tomorrow at Ft Hood and a trip to Asia in the next week. He cannot be everywhere at the same time and that is why he has Secretary of State and Vice President, et al.

ghudson68, as you may have read, there is a huge domestic healthcare debate and vote in process, in which Obama is very active. President Obama made a wise choice. His internatioal star status could have distracted more than complimented this event. Better to send his ceremonial interneational representative for a nice meet and greet.

Kind of a reach, Huffpost, since nearly all male politicians look like identical penguins with their black suits, white shirts and dark ties.
