Lawrence Taylor Arrested In Florida

11/ 9/09 10:10 AM ET   AP

MIAMI — Former football star Lawrence Taylor has been released on bond following his arrest in a Miami-area traffic accident.

According to Miami-Dade County jail records, Taylor was charged Sunday with leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, a second-degree misdemeanor. He was released on $500 bond later that night. It was not immediately clear if Taylor has an attorney.

A Florida Highway Patrol spokesman says Taylor was involved in a hit-and-run crash Sunday in Hialeah. Taylor told investigators he thought he had hit a guard rail. There were no injuries and troopers didn't conduct a sobriety test.

Taylor is a former New York Giants linebacker. He was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 1999. He also competed in ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" this year.

Was the guard rail transported to the hospital?

Have they released the guard rail's 911 tape yet?

I hit a bumble bee yesterday, and I'm scared sh.itless that the authorities are going to come knocking at my door.

Here is a non story if ever there was one.

Nice to know HuffPost is doing nothing to extinguish the cult of personality in our media.

If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem.

LT busted? Must have been a Monday.

LT changed the game. People used to go mostly for the sack but LT made an art of going after the football along with the sack.

LT gets arrested for a minor traffic misdemeanor and this is news? No, this is bandwidth noise.

As you may have heard from the Congressional hearings, a lot of former football players develop devastating neurological symptoms very early in life, and autopsies show shocking patterns of brain damage related to the many repeated hits they've sustained. Taylor was a linebacker, so he must have suffered a lot of shocks to the brain case during his career. He could be starting to lose it -- in which case, it's really a tragedy for him.

i am confused why it is a front page story. Charges will probably be dropped. It is such a minor incident. I don't think they need to even arrest him. Police report on accident would have been enough but again this is Florida.

I used to live in CH and heard a story about someone trying to pick a bar fight with LT in college. He broke a bottle and started chewing on the glass. Don't know if it is true or not but if it is I can see him doing it!

Go Heels!

Big mean looking black man. I am glad we don't arrest on that account but apparently FL. does.
09:56 PM on 11/09/2009
paranoid much?

i didn't say "black" man, now did i?

he also happened to be a very nice guy with a great sense of humor - he was the toast of the place that night - everybody loves taylor...

as rough and menacing as he was on the outside, there was something very likable about him...

He ran into something and failed to stop. Don't you think that race card might be more useful elsewhere?
