Levi Johnston To File For Custody Of Son Tripp

Levi Johnston is filing for custody of his 10-month-old son Tripp, according to CBS' The Insider.

"At the end of the month I'm going to file for joint custody of Tripp," Johnston told the network. He added that he had tried the the friendly way and it's "not working. I'm done. It's going to have to go to court. They just finally pushed me over the edge."

Johnston broke up with the baby's mother, Bristol Palin, in March.

Johnston told Tyra Banks in April that he was considering taking the Palin family to court, because they wouldn't let him take the baby out of their house.

"I think it's probably looking like" we will have to sue for custody, Johnston said at the time. "We didn't want it to go that way."

I hope Levi or anyone else for that matter gets custody of that child and saves it from the pernicious influence of Sarah. All children have a right to be raised by sane care-givers.

Levi is not dumb in my opinion. Afterall, the Palin's are the one's who started this whole mess carting him around with them at the GOP Convention, etc. It was totally absurd. And to think, given Palin's religious message she so loudly totes, there she was showing off her unwed daughter and boyfriend, Levi, to the world as if it never mattered that they both were NOT married to ea other. Missy Palin is the world's biggest hypocrite.

It would be nice if Levi succeded wining over his child. Would be a good lesson to the Palin's, but again, it prob will never happen in his favor. This would be a good scare for the Palin's though given what they have put him through.

There's nothing wrong with what he's asking. Joint custody, will require contributing to the child's support, but taking him from the Palin home for visitation is a perfectly reasonable request. The best interests of the child are in the balance, not the best interests of the Palin family and their political agenda. Appointing a guardian ad litem should ensure the child reasonable opportunity to grow up in the shade of both its parents lives.

too bad these kids were put on display last year for sarah's grandiose ego. too bad for a child to be brought into a dysfunctional circus..but i don't blame levi for cashing in. he needs the money and he has no job skills.at least he's not pretending to be a political leader in order to cash in.

It was very hypocrytical of the Palin's to show off their pregnant unwed daughter and her boyfriend for the whole world to see. The Palin's acted like that didn't matter at all to them. Very wrong for them to do so given the background Palin is touting, which is just the opposite of what she believes in.

I don't know whose court this will be tried in, but most judges would be reluctant to give custody to a young man who had not finished highschool and who is planning to appear nude in a national magazine. If he is still living at home with his mother, who was arrested for dealing drugs, that would also count against him. Whether they really believe in them or not, most courts try to uphold moral standards when considering the environment into which they are going to place a young child.

So he files for joint custody and settles for court ordered visitation. Sounds like that's all he really wants anyway. Tripp is his son, and he has a right to see his child, just as Tripp has a right ot see his father. Levi also has an obligation to pay child support, and I'm sure that will be a part of any court order as well.

You are quite wrong, now adays unless the father has an abuse or a felony they want them to have equal rights just like the mother does. You cannot hold a father captive of what some one else has done and doing a playgirl shoot will not stop him from getting joint custody of his son that is his legal rights, so you can stop with the mother, father and whoever you think will come into play here. The laws have changed years ago.

Right. Like he wants to take on the responsibility of full time care of an infant at least half the time. Unfortunately, I suspect that if the Palin's (Sarah) would just stay out of the discussion that Levi and Bristol could resolve their personal issues and end up getting married. Kids say things they don't mean (that is for you, Miss Sarah, to understand) and there is no reason for parents to hold grudges. Let those two young people work out their problems privately. They can, and it would be for the best.

Faith, Levi and Bristol were never going to marry in the first place. That was a ploy to save face. They had already broken up before she had the baby. The relationship crashed and burned before the RNC. However, the McCain/Palin campaign coerced them into pretending they were the loving couple.
