Obama

Washington Post:

To hear President Obama tell it, he's been busy creating jobs since taking office. The $787 billion stimulus package, he said last winter, would "save or create 3.5 million jobs." The White House is touting reports from recipients of stimulus funds asserting that they have created or saved 640,000 jobs so far.

Just as job growth lags behind economic recovery, job losses lag behind economic distress.

Unemployment in the US now is a reflection of a loss of domestic manufacturing just as the comparatively healthy employment stats in India and China are a reflection of an increase in manufacturing.

As Ross Perot said in 1993 " if you send manufacturing out of the country you send the jobs. People without jobs or money don't buy things."

Seems he was right.

I think we should concintrate of agraculture. We can feed the World. Nobody "needs" a big screen TV or a plastic cr'ap car, but everybody needs to eat. Let's put people to work on farms. The warmies aught to like it as the plants will scarf up more carbon dioxide.

Unfortunately companies like Monsanto are getting a corner on most basic foodstuff crops. Combine that with the plans to re-wild America on either side of the North American Superhighway and there is little hope of being the bread basket of the world.

The 30 BILLION in taxpayer funded bonuses did NOT create any jobs and obama has FAILED to produce the tax cuts and jobs he promised. I suspect he will continue to fail since his big success is still voting present!

How has it helped when only 10% has been squandered so far? And if it's so grand, why has there been no improvement? Where is any of that stuff available? Where is my $250? Even if I ever recieve it, I'm not that cheaply bought.

Even if that number is true, which it isn't, it's totally fabricated, wouldn't that be over a million dollars per job? There is no way of proving he's saved even one job, and the ones they say they have creaded are mostly short term government jobs.

It's easy to prove if jobs wouold be lost without the stimulus -- Just as the Governors what they would have had to do, who would they have laid off it they had NOT received money form the Stimulus?! I guarnatee you that ALL if the states would have been bankrupt 5 months ago, if they had NOT received Stimulus money - and when states are bankrupt, and need to balance their books they start cutting jobs - and without the Stimulsu money that is EXACTLY what they would have had to do! President Obama's stimulsus package saved alot of these Governor's as*es! Go ask them - the honest Governors will tell you that teachers, and police officers and firefighters, and social workers, and other state workers would have had to be fired if the Stimulus package had not been passed!

If all that was stimulated was more government jobs, that's not much of a stimulus. What about jobs in the private sector? Oh, that's right the private sector is ev'il in libera's eyes. What happens to those state government jobs when the money fries up? The same thing that happens to auto sales when the bribes to buy cars runs out? My state had billions in reserve before any money was given out. Not every state is California. And I suggest that other states could cut back in a lot of other ways to keep necessairy jobs like fire fighters and school teachers. If we had less cops on the road just giving out tickets that would be a good thing. When you call them in an emergancy they often don't show up, and when they do eventually, they don't do anything.

Big banks (Citigroup and Bank of America) are handing out 30 BILLION in taxpayer funded bonuses next week.

Obama and "Timmy" Geithner are rubbing your noses in it.

Using statistic from Obama's "recovery" website this administration has created jobs at a cost of $304,000.00 per job.

The average firefighter makes $45,000.00

What has Obama done to create jobs. His stimulus program most of the money went to pork projects like the Murtha Airport or to balance or try to balance state budgets. Only 25% of it went to infrastructure where a small amount has been done.
Next we have cap and trade which according to the CBO will destroy 2 million jobs after all the green jobs are added. It will add a huge expense to any industry that uses energy.
Now we have the new health care that will eventually destroy the Health Insurance industry with a loss of another 2 million jobs. It also adds lots of taxes 8% on business 5.7 on people earning over 500K. These people can look forward to 50-60% of their pay going to taxes.
Even the Keynsian economist say you should not raise taxes in a recession. The White House economist have come out and stated with the new Obama economy we need to get use to 10% unemployment because it will be the norm.

You need to ask your Governor, what did he with the money that was given to them from the Stimulus to create it jobs in his or her state, and stop blaming the President for working and trying to fixed the big mess you and the all of us Americans sat back and let the GOP put us in

Lighten up, people. The Obama administration inherited the WORST economy since the great depression, and I think they are steering us out of it quickly. Most every economic indicator has turned positive, and the Dow is now 10,200, substantially higher than the low of 6500 shortly after he took office. Remember, it was the 'de-regulating, tax-cuts for the weathly' Republicans who destroyed our ecomomy. Yes, unemployment will take a long-time to improve, and since our manufacturing base is virtually gone, it will take leadership from the government to create new jobs, like 'green' jobs. Who do you trust to create these new jobs - Democrats or Republicans? No brainer.

Most Americans realize that it takes time for this to turn around but boy those who expect everything right now sure are noisy, obnoxiously so. For the life of me I can't figure out where they were during the eight years of Bush's dark presidency.

Unemployment is the last thing in a Recession to improve, because people stop spending and hoard what little the money they have ,so Manufactures produce less because there is less demand.Employers stop hiring because they have little produce to sell ,so they need less workers. You want jobs to rise start spending, start manufacturing

Suspend the Income Tax for three years ! People will spend on goods and services, because they have needs to fulfill and dreams to realize in a cash driven society !

I'd be interested in a right wing plan to create jobs--I wonder, will it be

Tax cuts for the rich

Tax cuts for the rich and the non-rich

...

I await with baited breath.

Reply    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 04:49 PM on 11/09/2009

Exactly. This is what the Bush administration was doing for 8 years. The rich created jobs alright, in other countries at a fraction of the salaries of American taxpayers.

Recovery for Wall Street, Banks and CEO's. The general public is to remain unemployed until they have no choice but to settle for anything that comes their way ie., low paying jobs. Incidentally, another corporate perk given to them by government.
