Rachael Ray Helps Struggling Ohio Town, Soup Kitchen

WILMINGTON, Ohio — Television cooking star Rachael Ray is boosting the local food supply for a struggling Ohio town.

On Saturday, Ray brought a Wilmington soup kitchen new appliances, shelves and furniture. Ray's show also promised to supply food for the kitchen for the next year.

The soup kitchen is getting as many customers in a day as it did in a week a year ago.

Wilmington is still reeling from the departure of DHL Express and other Wilmington Air Park operations, which has left a 15 percent local unemployment rate in its wake.

On Sunday, the Food Network star hosted an early Thanksgiving feast for the community. The soup kitchen improvements and the Thanksgiving meal are scheduled to be featured on "The Rachael Ray Show" on Nov. 25.

Rachel Ray is a down to earth, good person. Every time I shop in a Price Chopper I think of her humble beginnings giving product demonstrations in the store.

got her hands on her. She was just a regular,
blue collar girl.

I don't particularly like her or her show.

But this is a very nice gesture. Even if there are tax benefits for her or her show; it does not diminish its value to the people in need.

Are YOU doing anything to feed those less fortunate than you?? I seriously doubt the folks benefiting from her generosity have a problem with your points. At the end of the day, a hot meal trumps your pathetic, petty snipes. There are a lot of compassionate people working hard every day to help their fellow Americans...whether they are well know personalities or your next door neighbor.

I'm just waiting for Michelle Malkin to go off on Rachael Ray for doing something "socialist" like helping fund a local soup kitchen. After all, it was Malkin who pointed out the "terrorist" scarf Ray wore in a commercial!!

I don't watch Ray's show, but it's great that she (unlike the wingnuts) puts her money to good use!
