Traditionally, Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving for the uninitiated) is when retailers truly slash prices. Early birds can shave hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars off their holiday bills. We checked with a few elves, who gave us a sneak peek at what you can expect deal-wise this year.

When our beloved son was small, my hubby and I were those parents you saw shivering in the pre-dawn light of the toys "r" retailer, waiting to buy that special, limited-edition bundle-pack gaming system that would make our darling's fluffy blonde noggin s'plode with joy. But now, with him being of an age where the things he wants are more practically-minded, we've spent the last three "Black Fridays" chilling on the couch or puttering around the yard - our time together proving far more valuable a commodity than any trinkets to be had...

Oh, and if you're broke (as intimated by some commenting in this thread), that's fine...but just stay the heck out of the way, eh? Just because you're drownin' doesn't mean you have to try and take someone else's fun down with you.

Show me a great deal on a 65" 1080p TV, and I'll show you my wallet. Typically the deals don't extend to that sort of thing, though.

Ah well, Black Friday is always a great day to stock up on thumb drives, get a new computer monitor (also known as a 42" TV), power tools (Home Depot always has some surprisingly good deals), and clothes (Macy's and Nordstrom's do it right).

Guess I'll also be in the market for a new gaming laptop this year, but with all the Luddites clamoring for those ridiculous Netbooks, I'm not holding my breath.

Everyone gets gift certificates. It's the gift that's never returned.

Let's enrich the communist China with our junk buying habits.

Can someone tell me a product we make in USA? Sports heroes, 24 hours sports channels, hot dogs and buns don't count.

Most of the Black Friday's money this year will be used by Americans to pay for their astronomical and ever-increasing credit card interest rates... Yes, it's basically g.reedy capitalists hanging themselves...

Unless Black Friday suddenly means "free stuff", money-less unemployed American's won't be taking advantage of these golden deals on cheap-made plastic goodies anytime soon. Just as well, some of those over-eager yuletide shoppers wear cleats!

Yes it means FREE stuff but sometimes you have jump a few hoops to get it.

BiNG cashback + BoA Add-It-Up + promotion code + instant rebate + Coupon + No Tax + free shipping
= FREE

Yeah I got myself tons of FREE stuff. And FREE foods too.

I hope no one gets trampled to death this year, but I will check out the deals online.

(Set to the tune of "Little Boxes")

Big, big boxes off the freeway,
Big, big boxes made of ticky tacky,
Big, big boxes off the freeway,
And they all look the same.
There's a Kohl's and there's a Target
And a Best Buy and a Wal-Mart,
Big, big boxes selling ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.

And the people on Black Friday,
All went shopping for some ticky tacky,
Where they came out carrying boxes
That all looked just the same.

And there's doctors and lawyers,
And business executives,
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.

And they camp out in the parking lots
For some loss-leading ticky tacky,
And they all run up their credit cards
Credit cards abusing usery.
And the shoppers get all trampled on
And some even to postal,
All because they're crammed in boxes
Where they all seem the same.

All those boxes, big, big boxes,
Big, big boxes made of ticky tacky,
Big, big boxes off the freeway,
And they all look the same.
Went to Marshall's, Barnes & Noble,
Office Depot and even Best Buy,
All those boxes selling ticky tacky
And they all seem just the same.

Sorry retailers - no money this year. Black Friday is going to have new meaning in my household starting this season. It's the day after Thanksgiving where we all sit around and watch twisted comedy movies, and eat leftover turkey sandwiches. No shopping.

You know, that actually sounds like great fun. Bonding, laughter, and togetherness. Definitely better than fighting the ill-mannered masses who'll be crowding the stores that day.
