What's Your Reaction?

A drunk woman fell off a train platform in Boston, narrowly escaping serious injury as fellow passengers signaled the approaching train to stop.

The train conductor, 27 year-old Charice Lewis, first noticed the people at the station waving frantically, then saw the body of the unidentified woman lying helplessly on the tracks.

"As I'm approaching, the lady pops her head up. And I'm like, 'Oh my God, someone's in the pit,'" Lewis said. "So I just threw it in emergency, just like I'm supposed to do, and it stopped just in time not to hit her."

I'm thinking she was just looking for a place to lie down and take a rest. I remixed the video with her "internal dialogue" of her thoughts while the event was taking place. It explains everything.

She could have just stood up and stretched out her arms and it would have been fine.

that giant hat weighed her head down and propelled her forward..(with a major assist from the alcohol)

There is nothing worse seeing a drunk. But a drunk woman is worse. She should consider herself extremely lucky.

Seems like there was enough time to jump down and get her out of there before the train came.

Also, what's with the digital rectangles superimposed over the live footage?

No way there was enough time. What would they do... throw her over the side? You'd need superhuman strength.

A) What are you going to do when you get down there? Singlehandedly lift up an incoherent drunk person?

B) I'll risk a lot for a stranger but there's no way I'd jump down there with the train so close (especially given how wasted she was).

The Darwinian free market of bad behavior has to be respected sometimes.

Yeah.. alcohol... I was surprised that he stopped because the people were waving. I would have interpreted the whole situation as some hooligans. She would have died... This is a miracle and I hope she will learn.

That driver got lucky too. Another two seconds of thinking the people waving were sports fans (??) and she would have the terrible fact/accident of taking a life haunting her forever.

I can't say that I was terribly worried about that incredibly stupid woman, but I am very glad that the drivers and the nice people trying to help did not have to deal with the trauma that her death would have caused.

If I were the engineer of this project I would of put up a rail with gates. Little, wondering kids could easily fall off.

Subways all over the world, no gates. Have you really never been on a subway, are you a martian, no offense.

You would be amazed at the number of people that have not been on a subway. This is why there is such an irrational fear of mass transit projects in this country.

Charge her with public intoxication and trespassing. And show this video in alcohol awareness classes. It wouldn't stop me from drinking, but I'd definitely stay out of the Boston submay.
