Last year's Black Friday tragedy was a wake-up call for the WHOLE COUNTRY: http://kellysalasin.wordpress.com/2009/08/28/stuff/

One should know that when it’s Black Friday, expect the unexpected! For Walmart, most stores open for 24 hours, beginning Thanksgiving through the end of the following day. Sales can begin quickly at 5:00am tomorrow. But expect that there are campers already ahead of you (Black Friday Fever) and keep in mind that its part of the tradition.....

Wallmart attracts these mobs by offering give away prices on items they only have a few of. The so called people who mass outside know they came to fight for a limited number of "bargains". If Wallmart insists on promoting this disgusting exercise it should provide off duty cops, lots of them, to prevent the loss of so called human life.

This happens when the majority of people are reduced from citizens and human beings to mere consumers.

at your home you are a citizen. when you go to a business, you are a consumer.

"at your home you are a citizen"

That seems to be the only place where one remains a citizen. ;-)

Like you need a strategy for crowd control this year. One in six people out of work will do wonders for crowd reduction.

Get a clue.

The Friday after Thanksgiving is actually, "Buy NOTHING Day".

If even half the people in the United States buy nothing on that day, it would be an effective message to the elites that something is happening down here even if it doesn't touch them quite yet.

We've been celebrating 'buyNOTHINGday' forever; we just didn't know it had a name.

>>>>a temporary store worker who died soon afterward.>>>>>

The time has come to stop differentiating between "TEMPORARY WORKERS" and "EMPLOYEES".

Anybody who draws a living wage from a company and works at it, is *one of their employees*, whether companies like WalMart have the guts and moral standing and principle to recognize them or not, and adhere to hard won labor rights and pay benefits.

Its absolutely disgusting to me that this man died for WalMart working right on their floor, and they don't even recognize him as one of their own.

The armoured humvee is scary. A byproduct of a dumbed-down populace, perhaps, but still scarier-n-f*k.

Whoever bought that thing has to shop at wal-mart. Probably can't afford the payments or the gas and repairs. Plus, Wal-Mart is about the only place with parking spaces big enough to accommodate such huge vehicles and the huge people who often drive them.

That is a great picture. A Wal Mart sign and a Hummer. The corporation that, by it's self, has transfered so much US wealth to Red China that they could bye the Hummer Brand from General Motors.

My suggestion is for Wal-Mart to stay closed on Thanksgiving Day, Friday, Saturday and Sunday giving all their employees these days off with pay. By Monday most people will come to their senses and realize that they don't really have any extra money to throw away on Christmas this year. Also, staying closed those 4 days will give local merchants a chance to meet the needs of the local consumers and maybe save a few jobs that are not at minimum wages.

I think the trampling incident is a great example of consumer mass mania. You get a bunch of folks all excited about the same thing at the same time, in this case, probably the chance to save $20 or so, and then put them in a confined space, and the result is kind of like at a soccer game, or a rock concert or something. Frankly, they can have all the sales they want at Wal-Mart, and I still won't go. I haven't shopped at a Wal-Mart in over a year now, so, whatever, knock yourselves out, there...

I prefer my crowd control methods to anyone's: Stay HOME! Read a book! Nap! Pet the cat/dog, kiss the babies and your sweetie.
