Jared Allen Explains His Mullet (VIDEO)

Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen is having a terrific year. He is tied for the NFL lead with 10.5 sacks and helps anchor a dominant Vikings defensive line. Off the field, however, he is a mullet enthusiast. In the below video, he describes the importance of the mullet: "The mullet isn't just a hairdo. It's definitely a lifestyle. You're carrying on a legacy." But perhaps the greatest advantage of the mullet is its versatility: "If I approach you from the front, it's like, wow, that dude is pretty serious. Then I walk away and you're like, damn, he likes to party. With two Rs."

My new favorite player. It used to be the NFL was full of interesting characters with a sense of humor and appreciation for the life they led. You know, guys who made beer commercials. Now it seems it is a league full of "look at me" types all about stats and endorsements. Mr. Allen, you are old school and a gem.
